Even with a beskar vein, it wouldn't make sense to put a child or teen that hasn't finished growing in custom beskar plate armor. They'll grow out of it in a matter of months. Then what, reforge it each time with a little more beskar? hand down the armor to a younger child, and get a larger set from an older kid that outgrew his, making pre-full grown sizes of armor communal? It literally doesn't make any sense to waste beskar on a full custom armor set, even if it's made a size or two large so a kid can wear it for more than a year. Hell, as I understand it Kane is what, 12? hasn't even started puberty?

How can it possibly be scaled or modular if it gives coverage worth a damn? if it wraps around limbs, and if it's modular any growth and the curve of the plate has to be changed, and the resulting gap will grow as he grows. all of this reads like the fact ultra durable metal doesn't bend is being handwaved away like either he will get his armor tailored avery few months off screen unless it's going to be a design with as shitty hollywood coverage as canon armor, which is what the description seems to say with shin plates and gauntlets. He's wearing plates that leave 80% of his legs with zero protection. Like a lightsaber and blaster bolts are going to magically hit only the 20% of his legs and 40% of his arms that are covered. As if Maul and other force users will only swing for the plates and ignore that hitting his leg anywhere else but dead center on the front of his legs or from elbow to shoulder (it sounds like forarm gauntlets and a pauldron, leaving half his arm bare of any plates) would be an insta-win swing. At least the cuiress and helmet sound decent and come with a gorget.

Maybe I'm picturing it wrong based on the descriptions. Any chance next chapter can start with a search to put into google to show what you pictured with this description if it's outside normal crappy limb coverage? did he go with something like 'old republic jedi knight armor' or 'phase two clone armor' but with a mandalorian helmet and gorget. can you just add a short AN with something to search to picture the design?

Gold is ostentatious and campy-white-boy-wants-to-be-a-pimp as hell, but at least he didn't go black on black with black accents and a side of black trim like so many authors loser it the fuck up. Oh wait, burnished... like matte gold? much better than the shiny i was picturing. good.

His age rather undermines the entire sense of AWE you tried to give the moment. thinking he's a prepuber means it reads like a literal child playing dress up with a costume he can't wear in 9 months. Unless I'm completely forgetting and he's actually close to being a grown man in size, this chapter really should have waited until he is old enough to need to shave and use deodorant. If I'm not mixing up his age with a different story, of course. all that build up and the entire scene of getting the final armor for the first time was EXCELLENT, but it gets bumbed by trying to picture a kid putting on kiddie sized armor. Makes what I'm trying to picture in my head look more like a kid weebing over a cool costume than a man donning battle armor. A kid that has a bunch of scars and is way more mature than his body maturity suggests, but it's still picturing a kid putting it on. It takes away from the gravitas at the moment. Basically the scene would have been perfect, if it had happened when he was in his late teens minimum, with very little growing left to do.

This is all obviously in my own opinion. In case any of this looks like flamery, just wanted to say I'm certainly still very much enjoying an excellent story. Just have a bit of a bug about crappy hollywood armor, and making custom armor for a kid that won't be able to wear it in a few months just seems like a waste of a precious and expensive resource with how impractical it seems. Hell my sport equipment for two sports needed a few pieces replaced each year from 12 to about 17, and there were no fantasy ultra durable unbendable plates in any of it.

Good story. I wonder if you will include the Mandalore's Mask in this fic as a way to unite the clans instead of the Darksaber.

I do like derailing some canon and legends plots. It won’t be easy or without damage but there’s tremendous potential there. Pre seems better but a lot of his dialogue is captain obvious shit. Nobody would expect Kane to be taking on masters, he’s just getting started and he’s relatively tiny. Give him 5-10 years though and that’s a different matter. TFTC.

We want infidel or invictus

It would be a potent combination, to be taught by both Malgus and Adas. I think Palpatine hunted for information about both of them, and may even have valued what he learned of Malgus so much he gave the information to Vader as teaching material.

I do wonder if at some point in the future he runs into the issue of the Order being to myopic and dogmatic to believe he isn't connected to the Sith they are hunting for, or that he isn't that same Siths apprentice. Hell, Palpatine will do one of three things when he learns of him. Personally visit to kill him (no tolerance for rivals), take him as an apprentice, or use him as a stooge to misdirect the jedi.

Actually, that could work in his favor. He could play at being Palpatine's apprentice, and take Dooku's place at the leadership of the burgeoning Confederacy, and overhaul it into being an actual threat instead of being shackled and limited by Palpatine's leash. Put the kybosh on the super weapons Palps used the confederscy to test out that aren't worth the resource and costs and instead use those funds to expand the fleets. Source actual organic troops by running a recruiting drive to supplement the droid armies. Repeal the auto-shutdown codes from the droid armies, or at least change them. If he could play the role of Apprentice to Palpatine long enough, he could seize control of the Seperatist armies and movement for real.

Heck, he might not even need to become Sidiuses apprentice, since the separatist movement was something already building momentum , and the Sith only co-opted it rather than starting it. If he can unite the Mandalorians under him, he can use that to make him a default person of enough power to be able to get into the movement. Bringing the Mandalorians to the cause would force that door open easily, and once in he could maneuver to be in the upper echelons of the Confederacy. Perhaps by joining early, he can angle to be the Supreme Commander, getting to the position instead of Grievous. He'd need to be able to convince the senior members of the movements he can handle commanding not just fleets, but handling armadas and galactic level strategy, so better hit them books.
