Wow this just got very interesting, looking forward to the next chapter.

Couple things I think need to be pointed out. Sirius and other adults from their time in Hogwarts would be in their early 30s at a minimum. You put the appointment date in the Gringotts letter as 1980, it is 1992 in the Chamber of Secrets. Other than that, this is well written.

Last chapter was nearly all in 3rd person. This chapter it’s in first.

Pick a path and be consistent. I vote 3rd person, as it comes of less like a self-insert fic, which are alway awful.

Just make it Harry/Daphne. Add any other girl if you want EXCEPT Ginny and Hermione

Excellent chapter. At some point, Diary Tom is going to determine just how loyal he is going to be to Lord Voldemort.

Harry/Daphne or Harry/fleur for the pairing, please no Ginny, Hermione or Luna with Harry as they are most boring plain pairing.

I'd prefer HP/DG. You could always just do no pairings also. While genfics aren't as popular as ones with pairings, if a pairing is nothing but a checkmark for the story, it's better for the story to just not have one.

I like the premise though. You'd think it be more popular, but I've only seen one other story do it that wasn't slash. I've always thought Harry getting the dairy would've been infinitely more interesting than anyone else. It would've added depth to the eventual confrontation between them. Interested to see where you take this.

Great start, really, it truly does feel like I’m reading the beginnings of a mystery novel, sans the obvious instances of similar meta writing where we know the events to come. I like how Tom’s manipulation can be likewise seen as him actually helping Harry given their similar backgrounds, disdains, and personalities. I also imagine that he knows in a vague sense what Harry’s scar really is and how it will be relevant to his plans.

I can also see why Harry would be curious enough to keep the book for himself and not give it Arthur, not wanting to give the Weasley family, that see him as one of their own, any grief, and how Harry can be just as addicted to talking with Riddle as Ginny was. Interesting stuff that I hope to see more of.

As for the pairings, if a poly relationship where Harry would end dup needing a wife for each house he is to inherit, Potter and presumable Black given his grandmother, godfather, and how Riddle says he looks like Arcturus Black, then Harry/Daphne/Hermione I would like. However if that is not an option, then my preferred vote, if you are to involve her more in the forefront of this story, is Harry/Daphne however you won’t hear any complaints with Harry/Hermione as my second-third option.
