i think whats so interesting about these three is their unhappiness with life - or rather their lack of satisfaction with it - and their desires to escape it for something better, something almost intangible given they all live in shitty outer districts. theon sees escape as masquerading as the passer-by, finding influence in outing peoples secrets behind a comfortable mask. its a double life, where he is forced to play a part in a deeply boring and mundane play, though he's also found escapism through his relationship, though both of these things will be taken away from him very soon, and im interested to see how he copes. mahra sees escapism as rising above her station, becoming something important and powerful even though her social class and even her tutors would say she's better suited elsewhere. she's so tied to this ephemeral dream of becoming a general that she refuses to see any other alternative. as per her blog quote, i assume she very much attaches herself to the idea of becoming a victor, because it gives her everything she wants. and decker is tied to the most ephemeral form of escapism out of them all, the concept of suffering: giving it meaning, making sense of how horrendous his life has been through it, because it's the only thing he really truly knows. he's always had a tug and push relationship with suffering, and desperate times call for truly desperate measures when his best chance at escaping death is to put himself in the line of fire. the tens escape boredom, decker escapes certain death with 23/24 chance of death. at least he'll be important for a little while even if he dies!

mahra: bootlicker babe ... hates losing... cant wait for her to be humbled! i like her energy and i feel like she brings something very interesting as an outer "loyalist", and i think seeing her reaction to being reaped will be fascinating: will she suck up to the capitol dreaming of what heights she'd soar to should she win, or curse them for taking away her perfect life she had all planned out? or both, when things start going shittily.. she seems like the kind of person who cant take personal responsibility. i will laugh at her antics i think. something so satisfying about seeing someone with her attitude fail. i imagine she'll give herself a chunky target on her own back and thats beautiful.

Hooray, it's intros time! I'm super excited to get to meet all of these amazing tributes! (Apologies in advance if I get any pronouns wrong)

Ooh Eve's a bartender, that's so cool! And she can sing too, what an epic talent to have. Of course the melody is coming from Oren, so awesome to see a cameo from him. Oh this whole scene with the two of them is just so heartwarming, with the earlier ones being so fantastically poetic. This whole POV was a masterpiece, as I'm sure the whole rest of the chapter is as well.

Aww, Snaedis is an absolute sweetheart. Hmm, her little mysterious basement is very interesting, along with those spell charms, I want to know more. And she found a way to make that horrid bully disappear, hmm, I'm starting to wonder if she's technically as innocent as she's telling herself. I just love little Snaedis so much already, and no matter what she's done so far, I think it's justified. #snaedis is innocent.

Rill and their mentor's relationship are so sweet. I love that they found a way out of the orphanage to help learn about different plants. But of course, that peace never lasts long. Oh my goodness that's absolutely the most tragic thing ever. Rill just was trying to do something nice and it ended up being the worst moment in their life. And they've just had to keep this bottled up for years, that can't be good for them mentally. At least they've got some support, but not from the basis of truth.

Ama, this was an incredible first introduction chapter, and I just can't wait for the others because this has just set the bar so high. You've got so much talent in writing and this chapter just leaves me wanting to know more about all three of these tributes. Keep up the incredible work!
