Leda: Sounding like a broken record here, but it will so interesting to see interactions! Leda hardly strikes me as someone who will benefit from such a prolonged pre-Games. Can they even fight? How will they appeal to sponsors? They seem quite devoid of emotion. Perhaps it is apt that Leda assumes the worst in everybody. At this point, looks like I am assuming the worst in them! Maybe the Games will make me a truther?

Asphodel: This perspective was a bit uncanny. Is Asphodel really seventeen? Even Bex seems more cognizant and mature than them. There were points which were pretty funny, but Asphodel really comes across like a stereotype of a stoner. I think I get the overall message; Asphodel is nowhere near ready or willing. Maybe they can gather up a group of allies? If anything, Asphodel has a sunny disposition. My advice? Use it!

Becquerel: Really enjoyed reading about Bex. I still have my doubts, given her age, but I feel like she has what it takes to outsmart some of the competition. Careers exist, though, so I refuse to hold out too much hope for her. With any luck, some of her potential will show; I hope she does something consequential with it.

Malus: From Asphodel to Malus, there seems to be a bit of a homebody theme. An introvert theme, even, given Leda and Malus. This is definitely one of the most interesting chapters, I think; the range of potential from these four is huge. On Malus, I had low expectations after reading some other reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised! I just have to root for the odd one out, whatever the story, my point being that Malus seems like the odd one out here. He is clever, yes, but he is misconstrued, an idea which I am sure will continue into the Capitol. Malus is a really approachable character, so much so that I can already sense a gut-wrenching demise looming for him. I hope he can find some allies who appreciate him. Who knows? His knowledge of bugs and insects could come in handy!

Sabine: Sabine had really good introduction, largely due to how much it focused on the Games. She was also very neat as a character, what with her trying to fit in. While I have hard time yet determining is he has what I look for in a career, she did a very positive impression. She has kinda low fan ranking, but has much potential to rise.

Song-yi: She has that undeniable intensity that is really makes her seem like a serious contender and fighter from the get go. This is reflected in her ranking as well. Out of every tribute so far, she has that promise and energy that says she will go far, and I could easily pick her as a favorite to win if I wanted to make a prediction this early. Kinda like Balor later, she is a criminal that was, if you could say it, save by the bell; she is going into the Hunger Games rather than jail in D12.

Tyrian: He is very solid. I really, really like his determination and stone cold ability to do what needs to be done. He kinda has a decently good motivation, which makes him seem less villainous than I maybe would have preferred for a this strong of a career fighter, but I will take what I can get. He has very average ranking, but as a personality I feel like he is a top level career here.

Balor: This guy really has a tough tragic start to his story. Betrayed by a loved one, he lost another loved one, and now he seems to have little left, if his apathy is anything to go by. I would imagine he is really a bottom level competitor if his apathy continues, out of everyone he seems like a guy who could jump off the podium before the countdown of the games hits zero.

Leda: Leda might be my favorite career so far. There have been some very extroverted tributes so far, some more aggressively so than others, so it felts extremely refreshing to have a unsocial no nonsense character like Leda. Somewhat surprising, I did not expect to like Leda so much based on initial blog thoughts. He has a very low initial fan ranking, which can be explained by his personality, and I wonder if his attitude will negatively affect his chances with the audience or the career pack.

Asphodel: The chromesthesia is a notably and memorable quality about him, as is his addiction to weed. And it is not just a small addiction, he is not only a casual pothead, he is probably competitively ranked nationally. I really like his choice of weapon, as Knife is the most versatile weapon in many aspects. He has a surprisingly average ranking for all his stoner qualities, but I guess there are worse things that can affect the rankings.

Becquerel: She is possibly the one of the most realistic and grounded tributes so far. I often have hard time relating with younger tributes, and Bex does not catch my interest too much, but I don't have any problems with her either, she is solid. Hubris is a really interesting flaw on a young tribute, which makes we wonder about her future in these games.

Malus: His POV section was somewhat strange, as there were a couple of parts that made we wonder if they are mistakes or parts of his ignorance. Firstly, I think spiders and slugs are not insects, and etymologist researches history of words, as opposed to entomologist who researches insects, which I though he meant. He is ranked around where I would expect with average rank.
