This is great. I've read it a number of times- it's truely well done, and in character for Lyra's world. But it's so short, and it seems like the plot never gets to the meat before we find out that all along the plot was to make Lyra a Professor. Surely there must be more to such an event?

This is an excellent story. You seem to know exactly what things would be like in Lyra's world, and managed to illustrate the balance between the old ways and the new very well. Lyra is also very well in character, and your words are very flavorful as well. I really enjoy your writing, keep it up!
