Reviews for Fireside Tales |

mystarlight chapter 1 . 4/22/2019 I wonder if Thranduil had a hidden idea when he had forbidden Legolas meeting with the girl. The king had a happy marriage so why he wouldn't wish the same to his son? Thranduil is a caring father and I don't believe he values social status more than happiness of his only alive son. Wonder why Legolas never asked him later about it. Great story! |
EmmaCarnahan chapter 1 . 8/24/2004 I really love the way you write Legolas and Aragon. I can't wait to read more! |
Yavie Feels Pretty chapter 4 . 2/10/2004 What a great story. Nice and light, compared to what I've been reading lately. I enjoy this pairing of characters, especially when it's not slash. I don't care for slash, you know. |
Gershwhen chapter 4 . 10/2/2003 All four of these tales were wonderful! I so enjoyed seeing the little glimpses of Legolas and Aragorn told in this way. You have a great way with the turn of a phrase and I hope you return to more fireside stories in the future. |
Aislynn Crowdaughter chapter 4 . 9/21/2003 Hi! I do not like these as much as your other stories; well, I like the first one and the last, but nort the other two. The story about the sea has one important flaw: the sea-longing is woken in Legolas during the ring-quest, and not before, and it is sign of his great love for Aragorn that he did not succumb to it while Aragorn lived. So, this tale, at this point. contradicts canon. But the tale about the Balrog is worse, because it defibnitely *breaks* canon and would alter the future. The fellowship takes the path during the mines of Moria because they do not really know wht Durins Bane is, not even Gandalf. Gandalf may suspect it, but he does not know (at least not in the book; it is obviously altered in the movie, but there he is the *only* one of the fellowship to know). If the fellowship had known of the balrog in advance, they would certainly not have taken the ring into its grasp; rather, they would have risked the gap of Rohan. So, this tale would make the ringquest impossible. Sorry! But I do like the first and the last tale; the idea that Legiolas has learned the perils of command (and lost interest in love) the hard way as well as the idea of him trying to figure out the dwarven escape route is very convincing indeed. Greetings to you, Aislynn |
Chemins chapter 2 . 8/20/2003 lol! This reminds me so much of Pirates of the Carribean! I love this idea you have; it's great! Oh, I've never figured this out: What's the average lifespan of a Man in Middle Earth? As far as I can tell, hobbits are about 100 years, give or take. Do you know? |
Tapetum Lucidum chapter 1 . 8/4/2003 That is one of the saddest things I have ever read! Sniff! Poor Legolas - it must have been awful. Unrequited love, deaths of those depending on you, pledge to Aragorn - very full for a vignette. |
chasinggrace chapter 4 . 8/3/2003 Hey. I like the way that you slip things in that really happened in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. I can believe that Legolas would do that. Where do you come up with all these stories? ~ Dixie ~ |
chasinggrace chapter 3 . 7/31/2003 I really don't like balrogs. But it was nice that you gave both of them something to fear. Update soon! Namaarie! ~ Dixie ~ |
chasinggrace chapter 2 . 7/29/2003 Is the Isle of Tolfalas a real place in Middle-earth? I was just wondering if it was because I haven't seen it on the maps. I think that it was good that you slipped in the part where Aragorn didn't return to Minas Tirith. I've read that part in the appendexices of Return of the King, where he sends a note to Ecthelion saying that he had more important matters to attend to. Or somethinf similar to that. Update soon! Namaarie! ~ Dixie ~ |
jambaby1963 chapter 1 . 7/28/2003 Wow, that was good. What a great idea. You can tell so many shorter stories, but exciting none the less. Keep it up! Jambaby |
DJTCluva chapter 1 . 7/27/2003 wow, this was excellent. so full of emotion. great job, and i'm looking forward to reading more. |
chasinggrace chapter 1 . 7/27/2003 Hey. This looks like it will be an interesting collection of tales. I hope that you will continue this. This was a very interesting part of the tales that you chose to include becuase so little is told of Legoloas's past. Update soon! ~ Dixie ~ |
Laebeth chapter 1 . 7/27/2003 I was amazed with how authentic this story really could be. I almost felt like I was reading an extension of Tolkien's writings. No flufiness or exagerated sentiments. Just really good. And I do hope that you'll write more because this left me on my appetite... Melui mudas (lovely work) Laebeth |
Reona chapter 1 . 7/26/2003 Oh, a shorty! Something never seen from you before! Are they're going to be more? It says Tale One. So is there going to be a Tale Two? Cool story! I've never thought about how Legolas would become such a good fighter. It's kind of like Elladan and Elrohir, isn't it. They hunt orcs for revenge for their mother. So, what next? |
