|Reviews for The Coming of Winter|
| cerealkiller49 chapter 16 . 9/26/2013
As a person who is deeply interested in Mortal Kombat before any lore was firmly established, this story is a shining example of what I like to see. Victar has done a great job developing backstories for various characters and factions, and introduced his own interpretation of not only the Mortal Kombat tournament, but also the internal workings of the Lin Kuei, and the Power and how of each Kombatant uses it.
When Victar wrote this back when MK3 came out, he had very little established lore to go on, which is why I love how he personified each character and (sometimes) explained how they came to be. And what about those fight scenes? Incredibly detailed, I can easily imagine each and every action scene in my mind clearly as if watching a movie.
I wasn't a huge Sub-zero fan before reading this story. Now I am :) Reading this epic story left me so emotionally drained I couldn't do anything except feel depressed for days. Thank you for posting this and thank Victar for writing this. I hope you get more reviews, this is definitely deserving of more honors.

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS! AND IF POSSIBLE, THANK VICTAR FOR ME! I CAN'T STOP READING THIS!

Any chance that this could be published into a fan-novel? This is so much better than some of the game-related novels out there, and we all know how ridiculous this looks sitting here in fanfic dot net together with these other juvenile, badly written pieces. It's not just the plot and descriptions that's so awesome; it's the fact that he put so much emotion into the writing. Sub-zero's torment and loneliness could be felt throughout the story, from the time his powers were awakened till that epic ice-dragon scene in the end. This is the only fanfic that has ever made me cry.

Wow, I'm so glad to find this story here, although I know it's also on a number of websites out there. This was the very first fanfic I've ever read, many years ago when I was a kid and MK had just come out, and I remember being totally blown away by it and emailing Victar about it. This is not just the best MK fanfic, it's the best fanfic I've ever read.

I am absolutely shocked by the fact that this story hasn't received more reviews than it has. This is my second time reading, and I must say, I loved this. Everything was great, the story line, the battle scenes, the characterization, everything. Great job. :)
| Paritheikae chapter 16 . 7/6/2011
MindBlown. Lol epic story. It's all like one great, circle. Though the ending was a little depressing, the author sure understood the ruthlessness and gore concept of Mortal Kombat.
And even though some things were non-canon or AU, this is actually the first MK fic that I've read where it doesn't matter that much, considering how bad a$$ the story is.
But, I like the younger Sub-Zero better than the elder ;)
| Paritheikae chapter 13 . 7/6/2011
The battle scenes are perfectly described, and I love the blunt humor Sub-Zero can give - whether unintentional or not. Though Scorpion's past is off (since he didn't die in that way for that reason in the canon MK timeline) the author got his rage and bitterness down well.
| Paritheikae chapter 9 . 7/6/2011
Haha Sub-Zero and technology do not mix well ;D Oh, Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat; I always thought the two made a cool mix and this was written, once more, flawlessly the way everything between the two different game universes crossed together.
| Paritheikae chapter 5 . 7/5/2011
I'm loving this story more and more as I continue. Usually, I don't care for first person stories, but this is pulled off very well. Everything Sub-Zero has gone through - whether in Limbo or in his Lin Kuei clan - I can picture and feel.
| Paritheikae chapter 1 . 7/4/2011
Wow, I've read through the chapter before, but this time I seriously read it.
And I couldn't stop.
The set-up of the Lin Kuei system is quite intricate and cleverly written. Whether the story is canon, non-canon or has traces of AU, it's still well-written and I'm wondering why I hadn't noticed this the first time.
But I've never completely read through the story, so I will continue, but my progress may be slow. Right now I'm reviewing since stories like these should have more reviews than it does.

pretty bad a story
| thedarksavior chapter 16 . 6/13/2005
Wow that was an amazing story. I don't know what else to say BUT...wow lol. Whomever it was that wrote this is an amazing writer and it is a travesty to have had only 12 (including me) rate it. I hope to somehow read more of his/her? works. later

Victar is a writing god. I've always loved his stuff- he is hands down the best MK writer out there. Even after all these years, he is still the best.
Other than this story needs to be better formated.

Truly awesome. Very good writing. I will, hopefully sometime soon, be writing my first mortal kombat fanfiction, so be sure to check it out.
