I love how you've taken a simple story and written something of so much more depth. It's cool! I mean, I know that's a very overused term, but it is!
Maybe things are looking down for the characters, but the plot is looking up! Keep writing. ;)

You do Norrington's frustration very well. I'm glad to see what happened to the boy. "I’ll be hiding in a barrel or something" - he could hide in a giant wooden rabbit (sorry, too much Monty Python). Well, I've finally caught up, and I'm looking forward to reading more of this.
