|Reviews for Neither Friend nor Foe|
| Kaelynn Mckay chapter 18 . 7/9/2010
Ahh, once again, beautiful. I love your writings. If you ever write a book, let me know! ;)
This whole story makes my heart burst inside me. (If you don't mind the dramatic metaphor)
I love the way you write Sam and Frodo's friendship, it's so incredibly beautiful it makes me want to cry. (That's a GOOD thing- I love stories that make me cry) :D
Samwise is my favorite character in the LOTR series and I can't stand to see him hurt or abused... but yet I like to read stories where he gets all angsty and beat up... O_o
What's with that? I confuse myself sometimes, but I hope you understand. ;)
Anyways, God bless and happy writing!
| a mithril loving dwarf chapter 11 . 8/26/2008
That is definately not Frodo.
| Team Sherlock and Watson chapter 18 . 4/18/2006
Wow, this was a very interesting story. It made me think of what could have happened if the other hobbits had carried the ring and not Frodo. This story is going into my newly formed C2 archive. Good story.
| Susanna chapter 1 . 3/16/2005
Very scary, I loved it. I was captivated when Sam tried to kill Frodo. I couldn't believe he would actually go through with it, but it was really scary any way which I loved. And when the orc grabbed Merry and Sam I got even more scared and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. And it had a happy ending too. I love happy endings after a lot of scary stuf. Good job!
| Axis of Equinox chapter 17 . 6/9/2004
wow. like, WOW. this is the BEST chapter! like, woah. augh, sorry, I just can't get over it. that was SO exciting, and like, gripping and crap! I mean, I couldn't even review on the last few chapters I was so bloody excited to see what came next! my favorite part was... well, the whole thing really, but I LOVE the part where Saruman tries to kill Frodo one last time, and then, as a last act, tries to kill Sam. pure brilliance. I couldn't come up with something that good in an entire lifetime! HOW did you think of all this? *sighs extatically* poor Sammy, and Merry, and Pippin. (I didn;t say anything about Frodo, because I don't like Frodo very much)they're so cute! I just wants to hug them, precious. uh oh, watch out, going into Gollum-fangirl mode. I better go off and enjoy the rest. I sincerely hope you have stuff after Sam's recovery, just beyond Frodo telling him he forgives him. btw, good way of getting Sam to redeem himself. cheerio!
| Axis of Equinox chapter 4 . 6/9/2004
oh, sinister 0.0 I think this is your best idea yet! _ much better written then some of the others, too. a few small flaws, but otherwise VERY GOOD. keep it up! _
| RenaissanceGrrl chapter 1 . 5/11/2004
*chokes back sobs* Frodo's not dead, Sam! They know it's not your fault! It's going to be all right!
Okay...that's not Frodo, obviously, or even his ghost. That's a trick by Saruman. DEATH TO EVIL WIZARDS!
Lol your remarks to ElevenPirate regarding Boromir's shield! I think he did use it, though, when he was battling. Not that we got to see him do much of that in the movie...*sigh* Boromir is underappreciated, I think. I need to write a fic about him sometime.
NO! NOT MERRY TOO! SPARE HIM, I BEG YOU!
Aww...poor Frodo. What's going to win out, his need for the Ring or his love for Sam? *is in suspense* On to the next chappie!
Oh, great, now Merry has the Ring...I'm not sure how good of an idea that was...but maybe strategy will win out over circumstance...hmm. Poor, poor Samwise.
Underappreciated or not, stupid Boromir! Sam's not dead yet!
YAY FRODO! And CHEERS TO ALL HOBBITS AND THEIR HOBBITNESS! They'll find Sam, I just know it. _
Heheheh, Gorek's dead. Sreves him right for being an Uruk-hai and being mean to Sam and Merry.
OH YAY! Aragorn and Legolas found him!
Oh dear...I hope they can get him and Frodo together in time...
GAH! I was all happy for a minute there! I forgot about the Command! ARGH! At least Gandalf was there this time...
Hehe, Aragorn scolding Sam for sitting up, lol.
Aw, "I'll understand if you don't want me o be your gardener anymore..." *weeps*
I'm not sure...I wonder if Mordor and Shelob and all that could be any worse...'cause Sam thinks Frodo is dead again, but at least that time it's not "his" fault...hmm.
Anyways, GREAT story! I think "At the End of All Things" is my fave, but this one comes pretty close. Keep it up!
| RenaissanceGrrl chapter 10 . 5/5/2004
This was as far as I got this afternnon before I had to leave. More reviews later when I get back again.
Kidnapped again! It would suck to be short...
"Misplaced" hobbit, heehee...
Sam kill Frodo? BWAHAHAHA! Saruman can't make him do that. We all know he'd kill himself first, and after that how could they possibly punish him? _
OHH! He's going to be under a spell. That certainly makes a difference! Somehow I want to say I read something like this before...Sam being under a spell to kill Frodo...but it wasn't this story, it must have been someone else's and I must not have liked it 'cause I didn't bother downloading it...Hmm.
Owie! Big long blade! At least he was unconscious for that part!
Uruks are smart...I guess that was kind of the point, though, take orcs and make them smarter, stronger, faster, all that...
Poor Merry, Pippin, and Frodo...but poor Sam, most of all!
I figured he'd have no memories, at least of Isengard...
Ah, poor Sam. So reluctant to confess he needs medical attention-or time with an Istari, in this case...Gandalf would probably figure it all out if Sam would just tell him, what with Saruman's blade sticking out of Sam's chest and the headaches being worst when he's with Frodo.
GAH! Sam actually did it! YOU actually did it! You killed Frodo! I was thinking Frodo might recover from even the head wound, but falling off Caradhras-! It's a good thing I'm reading this one last, or I might not have built up enough faith in you to go on reading. _
GAH! again! He can't REMEMBER doing it! That's just plain cruel! (But then, look who I'm talking to. _)
12 feet? That's...survivable, anyway...
Hehe, Sam and his accursed oversight of rope...for some reason that always stuck with me from the books.
OH THANK ILLUVATAR! He's alive. I never doubted you for a moment. _**
See? Merry and Pippin are NOT just comic relief. They're smart!
Oh, great-Merry and Sam WOULD get mixed up, out of the four hobbits the two of them are closest in hair color, and I doubt a minion would bother to remember much else. But then, like the minion pointed out, Merry's not under Saruman's spells...oh great, pins and needles again!
Good, good, Gandalf's figured it out. Always a good sign.

Man.. you torchure your character more then I do. Its a wonderfull story though! i have to read the last chapter now.
| ElegantArrow 64 chapter 4 . 10/26/2003
Your so evil! i like this story so far. I've used daggers in mine but all i did was stab the person, slice there throat, and slice there rists and still live. Sometimes being evil is good.
| Shroom chapter 18 . 9/25/2003

| Irish Flying Fish chapter 18 . 9/25/2003
*sniffle*I can't believe it's over...what a beautiful ending. Loved the Frodo and Sam interaction. I cried.
Thanks for a great fic and your touching comments. It's been a pleasure reading your fics. You've managed to make your characters human (metaphorically speaking of course:), something you don't find often no matter what you read. Good luck with your future endeavors (whether they're LOTR-related or not, I know they'll turn out superb).
| Clever Hobbit chapter 18 . 9/25/2003
Surely it won't be any worse- how ironic! Sam doesn't even have an inkling of what he's in for!
Glad Sam saw the light on the whole Saruman-controlling-him issue. This was an excellent story!
| xyxyx chapter 18 . 9/25/2003
Okay, everybody with me now:
That was amazing! Goodness, another great one to add to your list! You're an incredibly talented writer, yellowrose, and it's been wonderful reading your work. And remember, there are a wealth of people here who love seeing poor little Sam suffer. ;-)
On the other hand though, a Hogan's Heroes story would be awesome! I haven't even looked in that section yet. It'd be nice to meet some people with that interest... I'm the only one in my area.
Whatever you do, I'll be glad to read it! It's always great work! :-)
Keep writing, and good luck!
| Aemilia Rose chapter 18 . 9/25/2003
Wow. Great ending! "Surely it won't be any worse." *sniff* *sob*
I'll miss you from the world of Sam stories! You're so good at them! A bow to you. *bows*
Thank you for the great read!
