Reviews for The Tale of Marian
ZapperTrapper44 chapter 39 . 6/11/2023
Loved everything about this fic and truly didn't want it to end. I also loved the author's style of writing, the tension, and the deep and all-encompassing love she brought to life through the characters of Haldir and Marian/Annawen. Jason/Rumil was perfect in every way! and all the other OCs were well-rounded and thought out. This fic is one I shall return to again and again, as it has become one of my all-time favorite Haldir stories. Extremely well done, and I'm only sad that such a talented author no longer writes on .

Gosh I remember reading this story years ago when it was first written. It only had a handful of chapters up when I first started. What a lovely treat to come back to it after all these years and still love every moment of it.
Red Maw chapter 39 . 11/20/2019
I loved so many things about this story. The OC was impressively well written: her traits, feelings and occupation very skillfully detailed; as was the description of the entire Methentaurond ecosystem. I enjoyed the idea of the last of the elves leaving for Valinor in modern times and gifting humanity their knowledge, all to better the Earth. I loved how you have beautifully woven mindfulness of the planet into the tale: a real, pressing problem we face in our times. It all came very well together. Of course, I loved your Rumil to bits! And the romance between Haldir and Marian was endearing and wrenching to read. Very clever indeed was the addition of a "Fellowship 2.0" in the form of Marian and her team. Marian was, afterall, in a way similar to Frodo tasked with a great quest and had her own evils to conquer. And again, the OCs were believable and complex. PS: Rumil's boat..."The Mary Sue"? I giggled heartily. I only wanted to express my deep appreciation for this story. Dsspite it being a fan fiction work by definition, it truly felt like I was reading an original work.

I've never left a comment on here, but I feel I should because this story is a masterpiece. Out of all the fanfics I've read in my life, this one is my absolute favourite. I think I've read it in its entirety three times, and some chapters I've read over and over. Thank you, thank you, thank you for crafting this beautiful, heartbreaking, and heartwarming tale. Good Haldir stories are hard to come by, and this one is excellent. Even now, having read it multiple times, I am in awe.

* In The Silmarillion, Lomion is the name Aredhel gave to her so before he was given the name Maeglin by his father Eol by which he was forever known.
** It wasn't a son of Fëanor who was murdered by Morgoth in order to grab the Silmarils. It was his father Finwë.

well, I've just finished reading this story for the 2nd time in its entirety. Both times were so hard to get through without stopping for a few days with my heart in turmoil, but that one of the reasons why this is my favorite Haldir fic. I can't believe only a year passed since I first read it. It had seemed like forever. This really is a piece of art, the storyline is amazing.

I found this story last night, as I looked through the favorites of an author whose story I had just finished. I did not sleep at all and now it is evening and I just finished it. I've been crying the last 4 chapters at least, a few hours, and now I'm sobbing. What an amazingly beautiful story and the best I have read thusfar. It has been so long since something touched me so deeply. It is as if it really happened. So beautiful.

Evenstar gal chapter 39 . 9/25/2014
In the last few days I've been reading HaldirXoc fics, and none have affected me quite the same way as your story has. Marian had me captivated in her story line the whole way through, laughing and crying with her (especially when Haldir sailed). The ending however was clever, and I wasn't sobbing like I was when Haldir and Marian were saying goodbye.

Such an amazing tale... Just wonderful_ I can't stop smiling! This by far is either one of or the best Haldir romances I have read! And def one of my top fav LOTR based stories! Thank you for writing it! Namarie!
Sunsetcheetah chapter 37 . 10/18/2013
I have cried, squealed, laughed, and felt anguish with this story... Oh I love it.. And it's not even done yet! My sister would say that I was most animated when I figured something out before a character did and would yell at my iPad just like I would while watching a world cup soccer game and an obvious play was being either missed, or a glorious goal was just made! Aye! I just had to comment! LoL
Sunsetcheetah chapter 13 . 9/24/2013
This is an amazing story! I feel like I should ( and I actually am mentally) take notes to use with dealings in my own life from the lessons they are teaching, especially Haldir. It reminds me of how I felt after reading 'Siddhartha'.
Sunsetcheetah chapter 3 . 9/24/2013
Really interesting story! And no mention of Elves yet and it's so intriguing _
