Reviews for Fortress Around The Heart
Koorinoen chapter 26 . 2/6/2004
Well, quite a relieve actually. I really thought Legolas was going to die after last chapter. Now I have hope. Just a thought, I think that if the story turned out to be a total tragedy (ie Legolas died of grief and Irulan didn't even have to chance to see him one last time before he died), it will be a more beautiful story, not that your version is not good. Anyway i love this story, it is very creative, and the quality of writing is good. Just make sure your characters don't contradict themselves. I am looking forward to The Adventure of Irulan I. _

I like this chapter. The Fortress scenes are always the most suitable metaphor for this tale. Its also wonderful that this particular story does not have a true 'ending.'
Arandil chapter 26 . 2/6/2004
I loved it. Loved it! Loved it loved it loved it! The last chapter I was bawling my eyes out. This one, I'm sitting here grinning like a fool. It was wonderful. The end was perfect. Perfect! Did I mention that I loved it? That last bit where Hope returned was great. I love that she didn't give in to him, but you're hinting that she may some day. I love that he is persistant as hell. And no matter what anyone says, Irulan is an incredibly strong woman. I think the relationship you leave them with at the end is a perfect one for the two of them, no less passionate than it started, maybe weaving in and out of like and dislike, but always with passion. After all, aren't love and hate simply two sides of the same emotion?
Please write more stories. You have kept me intrigued throughout this one and your writing far surpasses the normal standard for this type of stuff. I will be on the lookout for Irulan I and anything else you grace us with.
Until then, Hugs and Cookies,
Arandil
Devie Saves chapter 26 . 2/6/2004
OH! That's so sweet! Legolas is still waiting for her...! I just love that elf! Some reviewers said that you made Irulan weak and disappointing, that you brought Irulan down toward the end. They are totally wrong. She's only a human, and she did SO MUCH BETTER than anyone else would have done in any of those circumstances. Those reviewers who thought Irulan was weak, I dare you to put yourself in her postition and see how YOU do! As always, beautiful! It doesn't seem like it should be the end, though. But it IS the end. *snif* so sad! I want more! I always do that; whenever I finish a book or story, I mope around because I don't want it to end. You are one of the only authors, and I mean even amongst all of the professional authors and award winning books I've read, one of the very few that come even close to Tolkien's League. Still not quite to Tolkien's League, but no one is. I've read thousands and thousands of books, and your story surpasses almost all of them. I am rubbing my forehead trying to figure out why you AREN'T professional. Thank you so much for this absolutely amazing, touching story.

Valor chapter 26 . 2/6/2004
First of all, you are an extremely talented writer, and I really enjoy reading your stories.
But the end of this story was disappointing to me...it is written well, but I personally didn't get a feeling of satisfaction or finality out of it.
Anyway, you've done a truly awesome job and I look forward to reading your next story.

-that many reviews...wow
Chibi Videl San chapter 26 . 2/6/2004
We have finally come to the end of another league of Irulan's journeys. I'd just like to say that it was immencly enjoyable and thank you for the time and effort you have put into weaving this beautiful story. The ending is slightly more vague than I would've liked but then it just leaves us readers to do a little imaginating. I loved Baeron and I think he is by far one of your most wonderful characters.
kaio chapter 26 . 2/6/2004
... we'll see where this leads and how true you stay to your characters...

Kishi Seta chapter 2 . 2/6/2004
A very good chapter, but, I still have a few comments.
“Sir? Are you well, my Lord?
kaio chapter 25 . 2/5/2004
...that was disappointing, you took a strong character and turned her into a sniveling strumpet. the story line for the most part was really good, there were a few places that made no sense but the most part it was the background that was moving and not the characters themselves. i like your style of writing but i think you need to work on the character development a bit more. other than that not a bad shot.
Nethien chapter 20 . 2/5/2004
You are an amazing writer! everything is so beautifully woven together to make an amazing and beautiful story! I absolutely love it!

teresa chapter 25 . 2/5/2004
that was so sad.. yet incredible im its brilliant way. this is just the second time an author has made me cry in her story. you are absolutely amazing darma druid. i cried! you made me cry! wah! anyway i was hoping that legolas and irulan were going to end together after all that... even more after Baeron's death! the epilogue better be good! lol
congratulations darma on a job well done! see you in the third Irulan installment! looking forward to it a great deal!
Keirin chapter 25 . 2/5/2004
This story has touched my heart. The character portrayels are very believable and gripping. It's hard to say, did Irulan make the right decision? A part of me says yes and the other part says no. But so much has happened between Irulan and Legolas it would be folly for them to continue where they 'left of'. The emotional burden so heavy and Irulan's heart so in turmoil. Only time will heal, perhaps...someday
Devie Saves chapter 24 . 2/5/2004
This review is for chapter 25.
Okay... I thought I'd give you a review that actually made SENSE now. Most of the last one was senseless... but it wasn't my fault. It was your story's fault. It made me cry. I was bawling and all emotional, so I didn't make much sense in my last review. So, now that I have that cleared up...
I was crying SO hard! That was the most beautiful thing I've ever read. Dissapointing, yes, they just HAD to stay together! Now Legolas will die, as Elves can do; letting go of their souls when the desire to live leaves them. He HAS to die like that, otherwhise the story wouldn't be right. It just wouldn't be complete. She just killed him, right then and there... that last embrace truly was one of death.
*sigh* well, I love your stroy so much. Will you give me the permission to put a link to your story on my LOTR fansite? Right now it's dragon2/totallyme , (yes, it's a lame site right now, that's why I'm remodeling a completely new one!) but soon, within the next couple weeks, it'll be moved to .net. So tell me if I can! I want lots of other people to have the privelage of reading your perfect story!
So, keep up the good work, and I'm gonna read some of your other stuff.
Signed,
Linwe
(yes, you still deserve my full Elvish name, but I already gave it to you, and it's a special one-time thing! _)
sugarlips chapter 25 . 2/5/2004
Oh! that was sad. don' get me wrong you're writing is beautiful. But the turn of events were very disapointing. The story script was something that in the end turned me off. Of course there is still the epilogue.. and i believe that we should never say 'NEVER.' Don't get me wromg. i think you're a great writer but the way it is so far is quite depressing. As of now their fate's seem brutally cruel and unfair.
