In response to Hermione's thought of "just tell the parents you're a lesbian, that'll stop them from nagging about finding the right man"... it really doesn't, it just means you've got to find the right woman. My mother changed tack remarkably fast. "Find yourself a nice girl to settle down with, dear; you're not getting younger. I want grandchildren if I have to make you adopt them!" et cetera. Though it did mean that I had to bring girlfriends about the house, which is uncomfortable for the step-da. The only redeeming factor about it really.

It is an admirable, if ultimately unsuccessful ploy heh.
