![]() ![]() ![]() This is really good, and it hurts so very much as well. Great job with their characterization, Illyria's otherworldlyness, and Wesley's grief. I just want to give him a hug still. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Okay. definitely a favorite! i know Angel was on the air so long ago. But ive just got the dvds and am really getting into it. the whole wes/illyria/fred dynamic is one of my favorite aspects of the show now that i am rewatching it. and i just wanted to tell you that this fic really does joss's universe of Angel justice. It's wonderfully written and wraps around so many episode elements. Here's some of my favorite parts: ""At night, Illyria sits in her room alone. Wesley is a very private man. Still, the paper-thin walls betray all the secrets he believes he is keeping. She hears his keening: a hollow, horrible sound that makes Illyria want to vomit. It also gives Illyria the strange and disgusting urge to enter his room and wrap her arms around him. Illyria knows that this impulse belongs to Winifred. Illyria remembers the shell standing in the hall outside of Wesley's home, hearing the same sounds. Wanting to touch him. Illyria finds it horrifying."" ""Illyria appreciates the shell's mind for the many plausible explanations it offers. Winifred was capable of explaining a great many things through science. She did not rely on emotions to guide her understanding of the world. Still, Winifred had often found herself worrying about those things that could not be explained, and it is those worries that Illyria now possesses."" That, Illyria knows, is simply the science of things. -Really, really a great piece! I might have to go read it again... and possibly again. -wb |
![]() ![]() ![]() very good! whana reade more about it! ) like Illyrian.. :) |
![]() ![]() Cool work. Characterised Illyria very nicely. |
![]() ![]() Fantastic! You did an exelent job keeping the characters themselves. It felt real. I only wish it didn't end so quickly! Will there be more? |
![]() ![]() ![]() I like how Illyria is repulsed and attracted at the same time. Very good and accurate characterizating of both of them. And very good that someone's finally pondering the question of Wesley/Illyria. I liked the writing style and the Illyria POV. Especially interesting with Wesley after the last episode when Wess lied to Angel so he could keep her alive. And the "I'm not in love with this thing, Angel," how many times did he say that about Lilah? |
![]() ![]() very powerful. i ache each time i see the pain in wesley's eyes, and you made me see it. great job! |
![]() ![]() ![]() wow. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wow. I like this, it's very intricately written. I like Illyria using Fred's voice again... it adds to it. She lets out a lot more of Fred in this than in the episode, because I think she's realizing that there is an actual person there before her- kind of like history. When people realize their predecessors left behind cave paintings, they try to understand them. . Oh, and thanks for reviewing my story. . ~Jade Eclipse~ |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm not entirely sure what I thought about this. It was good, but very, very depressing. |
![]() ![]() ![]() God. This was painful but oddly beautiful. The way you describe Illyria dealing with the residual humanity is so amazing. Most striking lines for me: "It seems to Illyria that these words should be delivered with more malice but Wesley's voice is simply cold. That, Illyria thinks, is possibly worse. Malice would at least imply some sort of feeling." Beautifully written. So sad. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. You have Illyria's voice and thought patterns so thoroughly mapped. Her half-understanding, her annoyance that she is not properly worshipped. Wesley's despair over Fred is dead on perfect. I could see that kiss happening so vividly, especially the fallout afterward. I highly suggest you make a bid for best Illyria fic in the Darnkess Awards. Found here: thedarknessawards |
