"Just a little nitpicking ..." Why not LeStrade? I've seen an ESL video with Sherlock Holmes, and Lestrade's name was pronounced "lə'stra:d" and not "ləstreid" which sounds pretty Frenchlike so I cannot say this form of spelling is entirely impossible.

Anyway Andrea, this chapter came out OK again.

That was very good (as if I need stating the obvious).

Holmes had that punch coming, serves him bloody right. Not that I want it to be repeated, of course. And I'm rather desperate to know what's the case with Philly's death - this should prove quite interesting.

And one tiny bit of nitpicking, it's actually 'Lestrade', not 'LeStrade'.

Keep up the good job. Am waiting for the next chapters.

Nicely done. I like the way in which the dialogue and movements are handled. Almost like a play. The characters remain perfect, and the plot is great. The scene at the end has made my day. I can breathe a happy sigh and finish revising now.

"I was not certain whether such a time had occurred. But for now, I was going to say that it had not."

Good line. All in all, another brilliant chapter. Apart from the spelling. But that's irrelevant.

Oh, no! Why was his sister shot? Was it an accident or on purpose? *gasps* Did DAVIES do it? I can't see that, but you know, this IS Sherlock Holmes and I never suspected the end of Hound of the Baskervilles, either . . .

Why do I get the feeling that one of them, most likely Holmes, is going to (try to) call it off in the next chapter? I kind of get the feeling that he's going to panic because he's not used to trusting other people, and there you have it.

I can't wait to find out what happens next!

PS British Babies are generally weighed in pounds and ounces, though of course we were meant to have gone metric in the 70s no one bothers. Certainly in Holmes' time it would have been pounds and ounces I should think
