Did this story appear in a Strange New Worlds book? It sounds awfully familar. In any event, it was very well written.

Aww, that's a sweet ending. At first I had no idea what was going on with "Mother," but it all came together wonderfully, and you've handled the children well. The fact that they want to go back to being as they were, despite knowing it will kill them, is a very realistic touch in this setting, and resonates because of how you had Janeway and Paris miss that complete knowledge. Beautiful story.
