|Reviews for beautiful contradictions|
| Fayejase chapter 1 . 2/28
I really liked this story and then halfway through it felt sort of rushed and like a lot of important details were missing. Also it felt more like era 50s or 60s rather than 70s. And the parents were all just awful…

awwwww I almost cried at the ending! I love your writing, pls write more like this
| BrionyLee chapter 12 . 2/22/2021
The sadness that fills my heart at the words “until the day she died” is so heavy but I also love that you’ve given us the ability to go on this journey with James and Lily before that ️
| BrionyLee chapter 7 . 2/22/2021
I really love this whole Lily actually accepting the parts of James that she doesn’t love! It’s definitley something that can make or break a relationship
| DJArla chapter 18 . 2/16/2021
This is my second time reading this through and it is as beautiful and sad and lovely as I remember. It shows so painfully clearly the struggles of growing up, leaving home and facing war. So well done! Thank you

I loved your story and your take on the characters! I really enjoyed your writing style. And I appreciate that you set boundaries between James and Lily. So many fics go for smug straight away. I think it’s refreshing that in their relationship they decided to wait until marriage to be that intimate. It was really sweet!

People still reading this in 2019 girl!
For starters I have read a shit ton of jily fanfiction over the years. Your story was refreshing to me. Realistic in terms of growth and character development. I am glad it was minimal on the smut. Lacked cliches which I am thrilled about. A fluffy story which has a story line itself, not just having it centred around them.
Thank you for a good read, and I hope you are doing well in life.

The ending warrants a heartfelt sigh. That was so nostalgic! I really got the feels when she was leaving Hogwarts.
Pet peeve re long impractical speech on the platform by her dad this time. But it all ties in together. This story was started so long ago - it is so amazing that you finished it! Your characterisation of everyone was one of my favourite things about this story. There was so much depth and nuance - one of the best I’ve ever read about. And your take on things like Remus, Peter and Regulus were new to me but make so much sense canonically. This was great. Thanks for sharing your talent with us all.

Somehow I feel the plausibility of the story has shifted. Not magic wise or canon wise but storyline wise? Like they just had an entire long conversation in front of his parents including kisses and spins etc? And the long articulate speeches about feelings that come so easily... my fave part about this story was when Lily learnt to come around and get to know James better. That was really deep. But I will read on! Excited to see how it wraps up.

Dumbledore’s lack of favourites was really sweet. Some obvious foreshadowing going on there. (I love it). All I need to really feel complete is to baby name drop Harry!

I really dig your authors notes for context and also the fact you are trying so hard to stay truthful to the context! Even though it is fanfiction. It’s super impressive. (And canon is my favourite). I also like the political explorations you’ve suggested. Some things you say made me realise how dated this fic is (eg the timeline of their lives).. but otherwise it’s aged really well!

That was such a tender moment of burgeoning... acceptance... between Lily and Sirius. I loved it.
| writeringoodfaith chapter 7 . 5/17/2019
That was absolutel g. Incredible. A chapter for the ages, for the Jily hall of fame for sure.

Wow I loved that stag scene.
