|Reviews for Once Upon A Solstice|
| Dana chapter 1 . 10/3/2010
I liked the story and I've always loved that song Once Upon a December. I like the movie version better than Aaliyah's so I'm totally with you there. I don't know if you've seen the third movie since writing this but yes, it basically shoots everything you've written as not possible, but to me that doesn't matter. Stories can be anything you make them. You don't HAVE to follow the story arc of the manga/anime/movies. I still found this such an interesting story. :) And who says that there are no unicorns in feudal Japan? Unicorns could be a type of youkai in the story. Who says that they don't exist? Don't let others tell you how to write your stories. Just write what you love and what you feel. :) Keep up the good work! :)

I'm not sure why, but this story really touched me. Great job.
| Ranuel chapter 1 . 12/2/2005
Yes, there are cultural and cannon irregularities but it's a good story. I'm missing my own parents as Christmas comes near and I got all misty for Inuyasha.

Are all your one-shots song fics? I think I'm reading them in reverse order, but they all seem to be so far. Oh, and if you have any chance AT ALL of seeing the third movie, I applaude you. At the moment, I have a 2% chance of seeing it subtitled and a much larger chance of not until it comes out in English. I also have a 99.9% chance of severely hurting my sister for going to see it without me sometime next week...I think there's nothing wrong with you manufacturing memories. The only one of Inuyasha's I've seen is a little snippet from the No-face Woman, but it's not in the graphic novel, so I don't remember it well. BTW, I think the lirics got a little goofed up in here, 'cause the last words are 'once upon a December.' The 'dancing bears' part is only in the song once. Heh.

Anastasia is one of my favorite movies, and it has some great music in it. And since I really like Inuyasha and the music from Anastasia, I can't help but like this story as well. Good work!

| okinawapet chapter 1 . 7/20/2004
That was a great fanfic. It is different from the story in the third movie, but this is a little bit better to me. It seems to fit Inuyashas character.
| Valdimarian chapter 1 . 7/10/2004
Gah! I missed a story! How could I have missed one of your wonderful pieces?
But anyway, another great work, like usual. But another song for a Wintery sort of scene is "My December" by Linkin Park. Good band, good song, and the album is ReAnimation, another good album as well. I realy like Linkin Park, if you didnt notice.

I was actually hit by inspiration reading this...but posting it would be kinda ripping it off, so I'll write it here.
Inuyasha stared off into the wide expanse of snow. It glistened, sparkling in the twilight. A strand of music floated in his mind, just out of reach.
Far away...long ago...
A memory surfaced, unbidden, from the reccesses of his mind.
His mother swung him around, her hair falling across her face. She pulled him close, hugging him tightly to her as she danced in the snow.
Someone holds me safe and warm...
A deep voice called to them, but the words were faint, and Inuyasha could not remember what he had said.
Glowing dim as an ember...
The melody was clearer in his mind, and a verse of the song came to him.
Things my heart used to know/ Thing it yearns to remember...
Inuyasha remembered lights, and a large ballroom. women in beautiful dresses...his mother and father in the center of the floor, revolving slowly.
Dancing bears, painted wings...
Inuyasha began to hum softly, not seeing the snow or the trees, or his companions looking at him strangely. His eyes were full of visions from the past. Gold light, warm torches.
Waltzing with his mother...
Horses prance through a silver storm/ Figures dancing gracefully/ Across my memory...
Inuyasha turned to Kagome and swept her her up, dancing her out to the middle of the snow covered clearing. He waltzed her around and around, humming the song quietly.
She fell into step with him, after a few stumbles. Neither noticed their friends leaving them in peace, alone.
Inuyasha continued to dance, staring into Kagome's eyes. He remembered...
Inuyasha dressed himself in fine white clothes, Kagome in a beautiful gold gown. They danced across the snow, almost flying.
And a song someone sings...
Inuyasha slowed, and his voice died out.
AND, cut! There ya have it. just a little thing. not much.
Loved your fic, in case you couldn't tell...

That gave me a nice warm, gooshy feeling... you know sorta like chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven... and what could be better than that? Just out of curiosity though... what other memories do you have up your a$$? _
