Holy shit. Verto's great ape form is that good?
| Guest chapter 7 . 5/19
go to great ape you jackass.
| Guest chapter 2 . 5/19
Well that's one way to stick to canon. Also this way no one can blame Verto for not warning them about Majin Buu.
| Im anoyyed chapter 2 . 8/2/2018
The dam memory wipe thing is getting anoying in self insert fiction...you did well too avoid the ever popular...just happen to forget at right moment to stick to cannon events in self insert...at least you have a decent explanation for sticking close to cannon events

I really enjoyed the second saga! I'm not going to bother with doing the real power levels 'at the moment'. Also I hope Videl and Verto end up together. As much as I like GohanXVidel Verto and Videl would be a nice twist. Bye for now!

17 and future trunks have appeared!? This is a game changer, to bad 17 died.
| vamplord111 chapter 28 . 12/12/2014
Really good story thus far. The spelling in almost every page of this saga as well as in the last could use some work. Love the story though fantastic

I really liked the last half of this part of the series. the battles were well-written and didn't lose my interest. While the constant up and down of winning to losing was a little annoying, it did stick to true DBZ fashion as every battle was like that in the show. It made me feel like I was watching (or reading) something that the Producers of the show might have written themselves (as far as the battles went at least. The rest of the story has a different feel to it, but that's not a bad thing).
During the fight at the look out, I was definitely not expecting 17 to show up. Throwing Mirai Trunks into the mix completely made my day. I was happy when Gohan could finally get into the battle, because I knew that the end was near, and I really hate skinny Buu.
It was very amusing seeing Verto tell off the old Kai as he was really beginning to annoy me. I'm really looking forward to finding out what this hidden power of Verto's is. It keeps being mentioned and I'm curious to know if it has anything to do with why Vegeta looked scared when he looked at Verto in the first part of the series. It was certainly not a reaction I was expecting.
I loved the Saiyin entrance during the crisis where Buu released all the Bad guys from hell. You're story has really been very fun to read so far as you seem to be incorporating most of my favorite themes and DBZ characters into it - Time/Dimensional travel, crossovers, de-aging, Mirai Trunks, and Bardock!
The last couple of chapters were great, because they helped to lift some of the angst of the battle chapters. It also helped in giving an idea of how the people might have dealt with the after math of what happened. Vegeta telling Verto he was proud of him, was really sweet. I'm glad that he's starting to act a little more fatherly now. Also that scene where Goku had to kiss Piccolo was entertaining - I had completely forgotten about the bet!
In the chapter where Broli is fighting Buu and he increases his Super Saiyin power, you explained that increasing to Super Saiyin stage two and three (I think that's how you called it) was detrimental, because it slowed the saiyin down. You explained this exact same thing while Vegeta was training Verto in the Hyperbolic time chamber when Vegeta was showing him Super Saiyin and ascended Super Saiyin modes. You might not care, and most people might not even notice it, but in case you do care, I thought I would mention it.
I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series, though I probably won't read it as fast as the last two parts, so reviews will come in slower. Thanks again for writing and publishing this story.

Okay, now for my second review. First I would like to say thank you for taking the time to personally reply to my first review.
I'm enjoying the second part of the series quite a bit so far. I'm really liking the character interaction, especially between Goku and Verto. Goku and Gohan are my all time favorite characters, so the interaction between them and Verto is fun to read. The depth of Gohan and Verto's friendship is once again shown in that Verto feels the same pain as when earth was blown up and he thinks Gohan has died. Feeling sadness at the loss of a friend is normal, but the fact that he feels the same sorrow for Gohan as for his family really shows how deep there connection goes, especially since they've only really known each other for a month or so. I'm really looking forward to more interaction the further through the story that I get.
Verto's relationship with Videl seems to be strengthening as well as Verto's relationship with the other Z fighters. The strength of the bond between Vegeta and him is shown through Vegeta's unwillingness to harm him while under Babidi's control as well as his faith in Verto's ability to protect his family. I'm also really liking 18's almost motherly interaction's with Verto. It's not a relationship that I expected, but I find it kind of cute and sweet (sorry if that's not what you were going for, though).
As for the actual story line... I think you found a plausible way to keep Goten and Trunk's battle the same, even though it was a bit underhanded. I must say that I do hope that they will treat Verto a little nicer eventually, but either way they're still being kept in character, and it's enjoyable to see their plans backfire.
I like the meeting between Shin and Verto in the beginning of the story. Having Verto for get about his world, and therefore the DBZ series was a nice touch. It helps keep the story on track and following closely enough to the story line, so that things turn out relatively the same. It would be bad if he accidentally changed the outcome od the battles for the worse by trying to prevent something bad from happening; an impulse which would be nearly impossible for most people to ignore if they knew they could save someone some pain. The Reasoning behind the memory loss makes sense, and whether it was the purpose of the memory loss in the first place or simply being used to explain the memory loss away so that the plot didn't deviate too much it added a nice touch.
Both of Verto's fights with Majin Buu were well written. They kept me interested and weren't overly long. Verto's "Final Stand" so to speak was interesting and we all finally got to see him use his transformation. I do hope that it won't be used too much, and considering this is the first time he's used it, I'm sure we won't. It helps that, while it is very powerful, it still has a weakness when fighting against smart opponents.
Verto's journey through the afterlife so far has been fun to read. I knew he'd end up there eventually as just about every Z fighter has gone there at least once. It's practically a right of passage to be trained I the Other World. I'm glad that Verto was able to get some semblance of revenge against Freeza even if it wasn't the one he really wanted to fight. I also like that you had Shin teach Verto the Kaioken attack. It seems like a fairly useful attack, but I only remember Goku ever using it during his fight with Vegeta and Freeza (though I'm not too sure about that last one. I could just be getting it mixed up).
As for characterization... Verto as a character is coming along very well. I've always enjoyed self-inserts as they generally have the most characterization and are very well rounded. I've grown to like him just as much as the other characters and he really seems to fit in with them. He's not overly arrogant, knows his limits, isn't afraid to admit to those limitations, and doesn't have a problem with listening to those who are older and more experienced than he is. I also find his comments quite humorous, whether he's simply making a joke or giving a good insult.
All of the other characters seem to be well characterized as well. I like that you're showing more depth to certain aspects of some of the characters; aspects that we know are there, but simply aren't touched on much on the show (like 18's motherly side and Vegeta's tough love attitude, though love none the less). I also like that you haven't made Goku a total idiot. He's still care free, but he's not stupid. Some fanfictions portray him as being dumb and naïve, which isn't true. On some subjects he is a little naïve, but naivety is defined as having a lack of knowledge or understanding. He may be a bit socially awkward, but how naïve could he be given that he's got two kids and understands how the world works rather well. In Dragon Ball he was naïve, in Dragon Ball Z, he's just nice and honorable.
Sorry for my little rant, I tend to be rather wordy. There's just one thing I'd like to say before I finish, something that you brought up in your reply to my last review - your stand on language. I completely understand what you mean about the language, and would like to give my two cents on your usage. The amount of cursing you use in the story is actually rather light. In fact the fact that there is some bad language in the story only makes it more realistic as almost everyone in at some point in there life has said at least one curse word. I don't mind the language unless there's excessive use of the F-word (which for some reason seems worse to me than any other curse word) or there's cursing every other word. Those are the only kind of stories I can't stomach because of the language. So as far as the language goes, you have no complaint from me. It's not like your having anybody cuss uncharacteristically (I simply can't see Chi-Chi cussing that much) or having Trunks and Goten who are both physically and mentally seven and eight cuss.

I dont think Goten could transform that fast without Verto having the reflex to power up aswell.

wow you so so so underpowered made him so strong is he didnt lose speed... and his ki didnt drop as fast as you made him in this fight it increased in battle... i have enjoyed everything you did in this fic but that is just stupid.

Super awesome chapter. i hate the way villin's hide behind thier henchmen than turn on them as fast as a snake or in this case a angry vegeta. i hope badabi gets what he deserves _
| X-zavia chapter 7 . 6/1/2011
What a JUICY_ chapter. know what would of been a great idea? include the vegeta us goku fight but have it to where they got so carried away that they ended up fighting there way over to babida and buv but one misplaced shot by goku ends up making it a three way fight between buv vegeta and goku and eventaly dabura now that would have made it even better
