Reviews for Harry Potter and the Battle of Wills |

![]() ![]() ![]() it made me cry |
![]() ![]() ![]() I love it i think it is my favorite harry potter fanfiction. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Very rushed visit as though it's a side mission before Harry returns to Hogwarts instead of a proper visit to another country. Also, self fulfilling "prophecy"? |
![]() ![]() ![]() I've read some Snape oriented fics and their Point-of-view on Harry describes well the tumultuous wreck the Harry in this fanfic is. The troubled emotionally unstable wreck with both hero complex and pretender complex and spoilt infantile gryffindor as well. It's a difficult situation for me, because this fanfic is interesting, but its protagonist disgusting. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Well, nice and entertaining so far. Just few things I adamantly expect from later chapters (which I'm yet to read): -Hogwarts should be clamped tight under martial law. Nothing goes in or out. It's the only expected way, considering all the hassle after Sirius's escape in third year and back then it was one escapee versus current situation (basically civil war) -every child of a confirmed (not merely suspected) Death eater is immediately at least expelled unless they cut ties with their terrorist relatives. This obviously would result in Draco Malfoy going out. On top of attempted murder of familiar. If these points are not in without a lengthy and believable justification, I won't be able to believe anything else in the story from there. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Could be a decent oneshot if it ends here with Potter never too be re-awoken. Against my better judgement I'll continue reading. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, great, another cliffhanger. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Nice cliffhanger, bro. /s |
![]() ![]() Ginny-Ball is such a Weasley thing to come up with. |
![]() ![]() "Weird national warning cat" is a really cool idea and represents everything that made the Harry Potter world so fun to me. This story is really good so far. |
![]() ![]() *** Hermione grabbed a pillow off a chair and began hitting him with it as Harry and Ginny collapsed with laughter. "Oh, go on, Hermione!" Harry gasped, wiping his eyes. "You've got to admit, the shoe's on the other foot!" *** Pfffthahahahahahaha, yes, yes it really is. That's amazing, I've never seen that done before. What a great idea. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Ahhh this chapter. I do remember this ending, how you rather handily broke our hearts but I forgive you because it makes 100% sense, even if I wish it weren’t so. But I also recall they reunite in the epilogue so at least I have solace there. I absolutely love Snape and Harry teaming up to bring down Lucius, Snape’s fear after Harry tumbles, and most of all the way he holds him during the dementor attack. So many tender moments, and even the heartbreak of their last conversation in the dungeons gave me feels when Snape comes after Harry when he flees. You can see how much he truly does care in the quiet subtle stuff, like using “Harry” again. Oh and as a general comment, I have to love how just because Voldemort fell, that wasn’t suddenly the story’s end - you still gave us the exciting conclusion of rounding up the remaining DEs too. And George back, but Percy’s ghost gone. Sniffles. I feel sort of exhausted in that very very satisfying way only a good story can. Like I myself just endured a whole frigging war as well. Bravo! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Oh I was a MESS this chapter. So many scenes took me by surprise with the intensity of feeling, like when Vernon came out of Voldemort’s wand. Who’d have thought!? But it just felt so full circle. Having Harry and Voldemort’s final face off be Priori Incantatem and (quite literally) a battle of wills is honestly how I wish DH had gone. One thing the movie did right, though your version is by far the more epic. I love so much the progression: the way this raged from strategic battlefield where we got to see the satisfying culmination of the DA’s training and all aurors teamed up (Smythe-Wellington! Ron in a leader role!), to a one on one focus on Harry and Voldemort (the way the ghosts all had to emerge and Harry struggling to hang on until the end, his beautiful reunion with his parents after so long their Pillar of Storge spirits were invisible to him, the bashful Draco moment). And of course. I hung onto every protective Snape scene. Him calling Harry by his first name in times of stress, the amulet he had made for Draco but now passed on to Harry, the way he was always right there during the battle whenever Harry was shaken or struck, and my favorite, the way he finally just swoops in and carries Harry when his stubborn desire to walk off the battlefield fails him. “Leave your Gryffindor bravado so we can reach the hospital wing sometime today”. SQUEE! I love that as this final faceoff loomed we got to see Snape finally embracing his newfound - not necessarily affection but change of heart - for Harry. He’s been stalwartly at his side for many chapters now. It’s bee-yoo-teous *sniffs* |
![]() ![]() ![]() Now that I’ve read this chapter I can’t believe I ever forgot it, but that’s the toll of age (and having children) I guess! Omg so amazing! First of all squeeing over the way Snape is starting to unintentionally - intentionally? - use “Harry” instead of “Potter” during his POVs, and how he used it to warn Harry of the trap. I do so love me some terrified protective Snape, and this chapter was positively overflowing with those moments! The way he was shielding him with magic and his body, trying to stick close, and his concern over Harry seeing his parents’ spirits banished (*cries*… I loved that subplot!). And the piece de resistance, how he appeared to have slipped into Harry’s mind at the same time as Voldemort was violently ransacking it, thus giving Harry some of his strength in order to fight back. Don’t think I’ve ever seen that done before in all my years of SS/HP fanfics and I frigging LOVE it. Then also the twist with Draco saving Harry, then Harry saving Snape and Draco. By attempting to Legilimize Voldemort back. AHHH. I did immediately recall the fantastic ending kiss with Rita and Sirius at the end though xD And thus, a new band of shippers was born! xD xD Hysterical! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Me again… just wanted to tell you yet again, because it bears repeating… this story, but especially this part, is the STUFF OF HP FF LEGEND. You just don’t see this kind of creativity in the fandom anymore. It makes me a little bit sad. The time between OOTP and HBP in particular, what a time to be around back then. Stories of this caliber being churned out, the anticipation practically at fever pitch, it was like the whole world revolved around JKR’s little morsels of hints. I still remember all her fake titles and the way we all just RAN with them. It truly takes me back when I read your A/Ns and the way you (so successfully) inserted every fake title as a plot element. As I also mentioned in my last review, since I wait a few years to re-read I start forgetting bits of the story. But sometimes scenes are just so powerful they stuck with me. Uncle Vernon, the tomb rescue, Snape bursting into the Great Hall with Harry, America, the amulet, the public possession and how Snape and Lupin literally VAULT the table, I think something about Harry getting Avada Kedavra’ed and surviving it later on, Harry fading away, but most of all… Mountain of Fantasy. I love this two parter SO DANG MUCH. It has EVERYTHING. Snape and Lupin being badasses, the Harry twist, the Sirius twist, protective Snape finally coming around to Harry, the adorable carrying of him up the mountain, bonding, brave but battered Harry, the rescue from Pettigrew, THE HUG (!), the boggart, the Lupin remaining tame twist and him standing guard… BLOODY BRILLIANT. I can’t wait to keep going. |
