Lady Death is cool. Way cooler then any Lord could have been.
| LadyBush chapter 1 . 8/24/2004
Lovely... though said. The best things were Lady Death's archaic language and the bit about her voice being like the sea. I'm glad that Merry went too.
| Camellia Gamgee-Took chapter 1 . 8/24/2004
And thank *you* for riding such a beautiful piece of writing. I admire your talent.
| pipinheart chapter 1 . 8/24/2004
Really love it! I like that you represented death as a woman... She couldn't take one without the other, and she seemed to realize she couldn't destroy a life by taking the other... Really love it...
Keep up the good work...
| zimo chapter 1 . 8/23/2004

| Aislynn Crowdaughter chapter 1 . 8/22/2004
Nicely done. Do you had Neil Gaimans Death of the Eternals in mind when you wrote this? It works very well! I do not recall if Tolkien had a Maia who was servant of the Vala of Doom and death, Namo aka Mandos, and acted as "Angel of Death" in his universe, but it could well be that such a Maia exist, and she could well be female, so this is working well inside of Tolkien-Canon, too. Also, in the appendiceas of LOTR it is said that in their old ahge, Meriadoc and Peregrin dies within a day from each other, so I can just imagine the Lady of Deatth taking them both *then* instead of *now*. Well done!
| Hai Took chapter 1 . 8/21/2004
That was a very good tale! I am actually in the midst of reading a book called On A Pale Horse by Piers Anthony, and your portrayal of Lady Death reminded me of it! I like the way you wrote Gandalf standing to keep Pippin's soul from being taken by her that night! Very neat concept thank you!
| my-fool-of-a-took chapter 1 . 8/21/2004
wow. that was incredibly well written, and v.v. spooky! i loved how merry and pippin are connected, in a way. it certainly seems that way, most of the time. the whole lady death thing was a very interesting idea. good job!
