![]() ![]() ![]() Wow! A good take on such a common concept. I LOL'd at Yuugi's description of Kaiba...("At least *he* doesn't want the Puzzle"). There's a good story by DragonDancer5150 about the four of them (Yuugi, Anzu, Honda, and Jounouchi...and to an extent, Ryou as well). "Family is not defined by blood alone." Indeed. Great job! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Awesome! Simply amazing! It's so impressive how you were able to cram as much meaning as possible into each drabble. It takes most people PAGES worth of material to convey what you have in a few paragraphs. The ideas/themes you picked for each character were very well-chosen and I enjoyed reading each one. The drabble about Rishid was sweet and sort of comical. I've always thought that the Ishars would be the crazy next-door neighbors you wouldn't dare to approach, even if you knocked your baseball onto their property lol. Rishid accepts their craziness and flaws and loves them all the more for it. I absolutely love that idea. I really liked Mai's idea on family too, and how you mentioned that although she really didn't have a group of people she would rightfully call that, there WAS one particular guy (JOU!) whom she just might make room for. It's like a tiny crack in her barrier, despite the fact she didn't outright call Jou "family" per se. Lastly, with Yuugi, it was quite hilarious how he considered his family generally to be a group of reformed enemies. His take on Kaiba, the one who wanted to kick his ass in a duel but AT LEAST didn't want to take his puzzle, was definitely a "ha ha" moment XD What I really liked about this was the fact that you captured a very important aspect of reality; family is NEVER perfect, but it's there and gives an individual a sense of belongingess where it's needed. Given, everyone has a different take on what defines "family," whether it's the Thief King's rather hostile clan of ghosts or that one street punk who was willing to break through the barrier, but family IS part of one's identity. So, naturally, I loved this a lot. Excellent work :) |
![]() ![]() ![]() How awesome! I love how you captured them all perfectly! |
![]() ![]() ![]() like rishids for the straight up weirdness but normality of it. they all have their probs but they accept them and deal with them and love each other regardless. thats how every family should be. yugis was good too. because of the whole family made up of former enemies thing. thats very interesting and i think the most complex. it makes for a big family. trully enviable. but i dunno if i like that trusting his other self bit. what so family is only people who accept (you)? thats a bit self centred. an interesting idea and original. :) |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm always impressed by drabble-ish stories like these here, because the writers manage to say so much with so little. These were all fabulous and in-character, but my favorite was the Mai one. Despite the fact that she loves Jounouchi dearly, all her descriptions of him were negative - which is precisely what she'd do, since she's in denial about exactly /how much/ she likes him. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Sweet, I like this a lot. Nicely written with good characterisations, I particually liked the Yugi one, though Theif King Bakura's was very cool too. Yeah consise but touching, I like it. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I liked that. That’s sweet. (except maybe for Bakura, poor Bakura) |
![]() ![]() ![]() I liked this very much... good job! _ |
![]() ![]() ... you know what thief king's makes me think of? a teenage boy who desperately needs to go to college in a state other than the one where his family lives. heh. ~Sam |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is an excellent piece of writing. You've really looked deeper into their characters, though it is brief, it says all that needs to be said. I especially like your choice of characters, it's more common to involve the ones with more angst in their past (i.e Kaiba, Malik) but I really like that you've done a variety, involving those like Rishid and Bakura, but looking at Honda (brilliant look into his "family") and Yuugi as well as Mai. Nice work, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great insight. |
![]() ![]() ![]() So awesome! My favorites were Rishid (whose family was the most complex and intimately drawn on Yugioh) and Mai (so much detail packed into a few quick strokes, like a charcoal drawing) Write more! Whatever you write, write more! _ |
