|Reviews for He Who Searches For Himself|
| rye chapter 43 . 3/11
I don't even think this an classify as a fanfiction. This story is more like a novel. I am in awe of how you can make everything sound so realistic like the things Ed went through in our world could have possibly happened. I also love the history you added with the historically accurate people and especially the movie Homunculus which was something I loved to see added. I found myself researching different things that you mentioned and looking up people you added to see their backgrounds. Gosh, you just write this so well!
I am sad it isn't completed but I am content that you have a lovely work here that others can enjoy. It makes me aspire to become a better writer.
If this ever gets completed I will be over the moon in happiness. Best of luck to you!

I started reading this fic a few weeks ago a I love it. The story is so interesting and just gets better with every chapter! I wondering what will happen next with Bridgette and how Ed plans to find her!

This is a fic that I have been reading since 2011, and then became obsessed with it to the point where I considered it canon instead of the movie. I can see how much effort you put into this, and I know that life alway seems to be in the way of the things you want to accomplish(Trust me, I am in my last year of college), so I would like to give you encouragement as an anxious reader. You are almost there, you can do it! However, if you have lost interest in the story, that is completely understandable. I myself have let stories go before I have actually even gotten into the plot! What ever you do, I would just like to let you know that I enjoyed the adventure!

(caps lock indicates an armstrong moment in progress...yeah its such a good fic ill have at least one in writing this review...) The characters realy are true to the way id expect to see them and he scene you paint on Eds side of the gate makes me feel like im in a 3rd person view of Germany while Adolf is on his rise to power. AND THE PLOT IS JUST SO BEAUTIFUL TO APPRAISE WILL REQUIRE EVERY BIT OF TALENT FROM THE ARMSTRONG ART OF CRITIQUE THAT HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN THE ARMSTRONG LINE FOR GENERATIONS AND IT TOTALS TO A PERFECT SCORE DO YOU DARE TO DOUBT THESE MUSCLES WITH THIER INCREDIBLE HONESTY AND PRISTINE HONOR!

This is absolutely one of the greatest FMA stories I've eve read! Your writing is absolutely captivating, and obviously well researched and thought out- this could almost be canon! I'm really hoping you haven't abounded this story yet, especially not with this kind of ending. I love everything about this; the characterization, the great OC's, and the world building is all fantastic! I especially love how you've actually given Mustang and Izumi some actual interaction (they never spoke once in the series!), and managed to make it believable.
I could gush all day about this story, I just adore everything about it (which is rare for a fanfiction). Please update soon!

| Firaga Productions chapter 43 . 2/21/2013
It took me about a week, but I've finally read all the way up to chapter 43. I've spent late nights up reading, I've accidentally been late to classes because I was caught up in this story and just wanted to read 'one more chapter.' So you have to finish this. Even if its been like 2 years since the last update. I desperately want to know what happens to Brigitte. And to the Elric boys. This version of events is way better than CoS. So, I may take this and let it be how things really happened. In my head anyway. :p
But yeah. Finish this pleeeeease. For the girl who spent like a week of her life doing nothing but reading this story. Novel, really.

Bad Dante, bad!
God, this monster is AMAZING. The smallest little details are what makes it real. Your characterization of Ed is the most accurate I've seen before - or maybe it's the closest to what I've always thought he was like. He's wonderful. Al is also the most adorable little munch-muffin. He makes me smile inside. And, let me say, that kid is damn SMART. You are too, obviously, if you came up with all this alchemic theory on the fly. I'm impressed. I've read fics that make Ed a ridiculous prodigy-child and then forget entirely that Al is just as capable of complicated alchemy shit.
All this plot is awesome. And I appreciate that, with the way you wrote this fic, you left romance out completely. Now, don't get me wrong, I like my share of gay love - sometimes I stoop to normal level intelligence and go for straight too - but sometimes I just need a BREAK. There are amazing stories out there with the most complicated twists and backtracks and intriguing stuff - and then they add a pairing and it's like the world goes to shit. It pisses me off to no end. Please don't ever do that. This friendship/possible love thing Ed and Winry have going on is the funniest thing in the whole story, and if you ever DO put them together, all that cute awkwardness will go away, and we can't have that. The world will tumble down around our ears!
Brigitte is cool, too. Kidnapping - psh! She's silly, but I guess she doesn't know any better. And, stangely, she's very philosophical. No closet, so the skeletons are worse. Makes sense to me.
And so I scroll up to the top to check when you last updated - and am flabbergasted. WHY?! Where'd you go? Did the real world get you? I hate it when it does that, it takes forever for the fang-marks to heal.
Hoping like hell to remind you of the existence of this story,

I wish I'd kept a list of things I wanted to gush over, but suffice to say that I loved the story. It'll join my own personal "canon" as the proper continuation to the original series (disregarding Conqueror of Shamballa for being mediocre). The plot was intricate and compelling, at least as good as the writing of the source material in my mind.
I especially applaud you for writing the characters so well into the story. I feel like a lot of fanfiction either entirely misses the essential personality of a character, or copies it wholesale and misses any growth. You did neither, capturing the essence of Ed but allowing for him to grow and change due to his new circumstances. Al and Roy summarized it for us in the last few chapters, which by the way were interesting to read. The conflict between the two versions of Al, and the Ed that people remember vs the new Ed, all was great.
I hope you continue to write and to wrap up the story, although I understand you must be feeling a little burned out after finishing the majority of the plot. I hope Ross turns out fine, and Dante gets what's coming to her. . .
| Rashelle chapter 43 . 4/5/2012
Read the whole thing (took me almost all my Spring Break). There are no words to describe how well of a writer you are. Your story is brilliant and amazing. If CoS hadn't happened, THIS should have.
Your favorite semi-unusual words for this story: Intangible and dissociate.
In response to your A/N (about tectonic plates): Actually, in Brotherhood (and manga) it was said by Dr. Marco that all alchemists harnessed their power from the energy made during the shifting of tectonic plates. But that's a different storyline. So whatever.
It's been... about 5 months since your last update. Whenever you're ready we are! :D
Keep up the awesome work!

F-ing AWESOME. The best story on this site, EVER.
| Neevey chapter 43 . 2/26/2012
I really don't know what to say about this story, it's just so... WOW! :D You can really tell how much effort you have put into this. You're a great writer and I hope to read more of this story in the future! :D From Neeve

Going to review the entire story here since I generally don't have very many words on reviews. WOW. I started reading back in May and this is easily the best plot!fic I've ever read-most like the best fanfic I've ever read.
The relationships in this are portrayed beautifully. Ed and his father; Ed and Al; Ed and Winry. On that last one, it's the best Ed and Winry depiction I've ever seen in fanfiction.
The plot is absolutely gripping and I'm amazed at how much you saw into the series. I feel dumb with all the analysis and work you put into this. It's heartwrenching as well-I never thought that certain elements like doubles or Tucker's attempt at Nina would be used that way.
The characterization of Ed feels spot on, and at the same time he's been developing. He doesn't stay stagnant in that state the series left him in. To me, he seems so close to Conqueror of Shamballa Edward that it's uncanny. I hope that part doesn't offend you :P. But really, it's amazing how you perceived how living in the other world would affect him and I think his progression is perfect.
Hohenheim? You gave so much to his character, and your version of his actions are so much more like him than Conqueror of Shamballa's, where according to Ed he ran off.
Winry isn't like manga!Winry and she also hasn't stagnated. She's grown up and continues to prove that she knows Ed so well. Ed exhibits a better (if not any more relaxed) mood around here, the kind I saw in the series.
I'm not sure if all of that description fit the story. There's so much I could write. I also love what you've done with Al-storywise and with his character. Anyway, I'm glad you've stayed with this fanfic for so long and I can't wait until it's finished. Fantastic writing!

I have been reading your story for a while now. Just found out I started reading in July. Today, I finally caught up to the last chapter.
I loved the idea of your story. Continuing where the anime ends. I finally found a story which covered all the years Ed spend on the other side. C:
This is beautifully written. I have come to love your writing style. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's so very nice to read and your style always flows perfectly. The events were always interesting and followed each other very nice. My attention was always being held. There was something interesting to find out at every point in the story.
What I loved even more about it is that every character was so perfectly in character. You captured their visions and thoughts brilliantly. Everyone had a storyline, a point of view.
I have most definitely enjoyed reading this fanfiction. You certainly have a talent for writing. Thank you for being awesome.
Please continue soon!
