![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you, this story is really beautifully written. |
![]() ![]() ![]() One thing I've never understood is why Snape leaves ingredients that could cause an explosion lying around. He may have problems, but intelligence is not one of them. He knows what potions he will ask them to make - surely he can ensure that they at least don't have access to highly reactive ingredients that could explode! Also, I find it humourous how much is known about what NOT to put in a potion. Do you think someone just spent ages brewing potions and adding every ingredient they could think of to see if it exploded? |
![]() ![]() ![]() Hi! This was great. I got here while reading another Snape/Harry mentor fic and yours came recommended in one of its chapters so here I am. Your idea of making Harry have pleasant dreams instead of nightmares is truly inspired! I never would have come up with it but it was so great and so logical! And it gave a perfectly valid and natural reason for Harry and Snape to grow closer to one another though I would have liked for them to become even closer. I also would have liked to see Snape react to the knowledge that it was Dumbledore who was behind the dreams. Honestly, that mad old coot. Driving Harry into a depression. I really enjoyed every bit of this story and I'll be checking your account later to see if you have more of this sort. I'm technically still at work so I really shouldn't even have read this storyK. But oh well! Thanks for the time and effort you put into this. Yours, MS |
![]() ![]() ![]() It was good. |

![]() ![]() awesome! I love it. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wow. Dumbledore is a dick. A real proper dick. I've read many stories about manipulative dumbledore so far, and I understand that part of his character, but MAN, this is dark. Harry's just a kid, who wants someone to love him and he preyed on him. Harry was miserable for most of the time until he moved into Severus's quarters. I don't like the execution, but the results really are worth it. Harry and Severus really need each other. |
![]() ![]() I just have to tell you, this is by far the best severitus i ever read. thank you so much for sharing it with the rest of us! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I like your characterization of Snape. A lot of Snape-mentor fics have him suddenly being cuddly and comforting when he stops hating Harry, but I find that out of character. I like the way you have him still be awkward with emotions and not very tactile. Both Harry and Snape should be uncomfortable with hugs and touches, especially from anyone new, given their backgrounds and less-than-cuddly childhoods. I also like the twist at the end. Something always seemed off about the dreams being from Voldemort, but I didn't anticipate that that would actually play out or pay off, story-wise. It makes a lot of sense for Dumbledore to have manipulated Harry like that. You've really captured what I think is an important trait of Dumbledore: he wants "good" to prevail, for his view of what "good" is, and he generally cares about people, but he has no qualms about letting the ends justify the means. He is more than willing to sacrifice someone's life, happiness, or security to achieve his goals. Even in this story, he is sad that Harry and Ron got hurt and that Harry was so distressed, but he doesn't regret what he did at all. I imagine that even if he knew what would happen to Harry, he would still do the same thing over again because he got the result he was looking for. |
