Wow. It is clever how you set up this situation almost in contrast with Luke's opinions on Tatooine in Episode IV, where he decries it as helplessly provincial and uninteresting and cannot escape quickly enough. Instead, you paint him here as a wholly intrinsic product of that environment, a creature who cannot truly be separated from the desert in which he dwells. His reaction to the deaths of his guardians is convincing and bespeaks the grit canon!Luke will much later get around to displaying - and at the same time leaves the reader wondering just how successful Kenobi may be in "taming" this suddenly feral child. You execute this compelling scenario in a style that is at once sparse and evocative, an appropriate blend of the austere with the affective. Kudos; duly favorited.

I'd love to see a sequel to this. It would be interesting to see a Luke with the krayt dragon mentality going through the series.
