But I do know that I love you and you love me, even if you haven't admitted it to yourself yet." She let out a long, shaky breath. "I know that you're afraid of being hurt again, but we can make this work. I want to be a part of your life and your daughters' lives, if you'll let me."
"Have I mentioned yet today that I love you guys?" Syd asked, sounding teary.
"No," Bridge replied.
"All right – I love you guys!"
I take back anything I ever said about your story sucking and being too sad ;)
It just starts off sadly. Those two scenes alone make this all the better!

thank you for fixing almost everything.
the only big issue left is Conner/Kira. Hopefully you fix that too
| mkeeg91 chapter 24 . 9/9/2012
do NOT make this Kira/Trent! lol!
I'm glad Tommy and Ethan are getting involved. Trent... meh, but I never liked him anyways...
| mkeeg91 chapter 23 . 9/9/2012
thank you for a happy moment finally! For a second I was going say you needed an angst warning on your fic ;) but things seem to be getting better...

"You - me - we can't be together." He paused and took a shaky breath, the doubts and worries that had been plaguing him tumbling together. "Too much has happened."
you. suck. and I'm only being partially sarcastic here...
I hope they get back together.

"How much longer would he be able to keep up this relationship with Kira before the wall he had erected around his heart came crashing down?"
"He had to spend tomorrow with the girls, do something. He was paying the price. Did he have to trade a relationship with his daughters for their well-being?
It didn't make sense.
And he was slowly losing his heart."
Both of these annoy me. I hope you don't destroy Conner's relationship with Kira or his daughters or I'll seriously be miffed! It's bad enough you destroyed those other families' lives thanks to Doggie. Don't make this story worse (emotional wise not written wise cause it's well written)
| mkeeg91 chapter 14 . 9/9/2012
much happier ending ;) still enjoying this fic no matter how sad a few chapters have been
| mkeeg91 chapter 13 . 9/9/2012
I hate doggie. He is like one of those Manipulative-old-bastard Dumbledores from many fanfics where he acts like a God making all the decisions ruining lives without listening to others... he. makes. me. sick!
I feel bad for Kat and the others being forced to do his will... I'm on the verge of hoping he dies in the end like Dumbles tends to in those fics. He would deserve worse...
| mkeeg91 chapter 12 . 9/9/2012
this chapter is if anything more sad :(
| mkeeg91 chapter 11 . 9/9/2012
way too sad of a chapter :( I hope things work out for the ex-Rangers...
| mkeeg91 chapter 8 . 9/9/2012
love the hint of Conner/Kira :)
I hope Sky lightens up soon to the others... but I have a feeling it will take some time.
| mkeeg91 chapter 6 . 9/9/2012
Kira's back! Please be Conner/Kira!
I can guess Sky/Syd and Z/Bridge both of which I like. I just hope Kira and Conner find romance together as well :)
| mkeeg91 chapter 2 . 9/9/2012
I'm NOT a fan of the kidnapping... in fact it kind of disgusts me... I hope this isn't how it was done in canon and I worry as to why you would use it...
| mkeeg91 chapter 1 . 9/9/2012
darn shame the lack of Conner/Kira ;) but I'm intrigued about where your story is going to go that I'm willing to live without my second favorite power couple in this fic... (wes/jen as number 1)
Can't wait to see where this goes!
| Marcus S. Lazarus chapter 30 . 3/4/2012
Interesting bit of work, I’ll give you that for nothing.
While I would have liked to know how Conner lost contact with the other Rangers prior to his marriage, his daughters certainly made interesting new characters- to say nothing of the unique opportunities presented by the chance to see him as a father-, and your new take on Cruger was definitely original, turning the dedicated and stubborn but essentially well-meaning character in the series into a character whose desire for revenge against Grumm’s army blinded him to the human cost of what he was doing, focusing on ‘preparing’ the children for what was to come rather than just allow them to be children and explain the situation to their parents.
A bit ambiguous about some of your choices for the SPD team’s parents- given the shared surnames, I would have expected Z to be Danny’s daughter rather than Cole’s-, but in general the family dynamics you created were very effective, particularly with such twists as Syd’s distance from her adopted parents and Kat’s somewhat-pathetic attempts to ‘rationalise’ what they did to get things to this point.
A part of me wishes that you’d explored how the SPD team coped with Conner as a leader compared to Jack when they were actually in action- Conner would probably be a more professional yet casual leader as opposed to Sky’s initially rigid adherence to the rules or Jack’s comparatively casual methods of doing things-, and I would have liked to see a few more scenes with Conner interacting with the other SPD Rangers, but the initial tension certainly works, Sky’s resentment of Conner getting the Red Ranger position despite his years ‘out of the game’ contrasting well with Conner’s recognition that being a Ranger means being part of a family rather than just getting a rank.
Subsequent developments as the SPD team recognise the shortcomings of their powers compared to what Cruger wants them to be capable of certainly reflected this Cruger’s main problem of being unable to think of the Rangers as people, and the epiphany that helped the SPD Rangers identify their origins certainly felt relatively natural, neatly explaining how they found that information now rather than earlier, and the subsequent meeting between the SPD Rangers and their parents generally worked well.
I might have preferred a few more scenes exploring Conner’s relationships with the other SPD Rangers and Kira- it feels like we saw more of Sky, Bridge, Z and Syd spending time together without really seeing how they all interacted with Conner on a regular basis; if nothing else, the fact that he’s been a Ranger before then should have inspired SOME questions-, but in general you had a very interesting concept here, and the conclusion presents some excellent potential for the future; keep up the good work!
