PSA's chapter 20 . 12/14/2018
Any reader who didn't get the hint right away, go Google the date specified in this chapter for the Death Eaters' attack and include the location of the second half. I was an American two year old on that date, so I didn't recognize it (from personal memory or learning about it in classes), but given how specific it was and the emphasis, I got curious and tried it. Just inputting the date and w-i-n and the completed chain came up - "November 20 1992 Windsor Castle".

A little real-world background tying into the story, which may or may not actually be brought up by the characters later if they even notice it.

This kind of massive, around the world story is always an extra bit of brilliant and awesome when it works out so well to weave in little references like that to things that have actually happened. The more you are familiar with real-world recent history, the broader the story becomes as you recognize the references, which add whole new dimensions and levels to the information involved in a given story. I love it, and you, dear author Louis IX, are quite skilled indeed!

Now I want to go back to the other lines in chapters passed that stood out to me in the same way and look them up too, see what slipped by me. A few things half-caught, things I knew about very vaguely but not enough to tell how much "stayed the same" versus being "changed by Harry's adventures". Side-effect of so many of them happening "in the '80's" - I wasn't even born yet. XD
Guest chapter 17 . 12/14/2018
I feel a tiny bit bad for Snape in this 'verse, if only because his habits and behavior are getting him into so much apoplectic misery. Note the "tiny bit", because it's mostly his own fault for being such an audible ass.
Sungazing chapter 23 . 12/14/2018
