Ok, to start with I love the style you're using for this. All the little "notes" Brian is mentally sending himself that would be humorous if read alone, but in this context are just bitter-sweet and painful. You have kept Brian in complete character, and the scene in chapter four with the child Michael, terrifying.

Now, this could just be the English major brain of mine going into overdrive, so sorry if this sounds crazy, but I liked how in your first three chapters you had this theme concerning water, and …well purity isn’t the right word, but it’s the first one that comes to mind.

Chapter one, all of the "shadows" (also a great way to describe his attackers) spit on Brian in a kind of "baptism". The second chapter has Brian showering, trying to wash his physical self off. The third chapter, he's not eating just consuming liquids, which clean you out internally. It's all very cool. Hope to see a chapter five soon.
