| Shadows In Silence chapter 1 . 6/25/2005
JUst repeat everything I've already said here. Because this is pretty much the same as the others you've writen. Little thought, cliche, dull as dishwater. By the way, is there some REASON they have to spawn? Couldn't they perhaps want to enjoy their life TOGETHER first? And of course you skip over the actual problems of a pregnancy and everything else that having a child would bring in. Can't have anything BAD happen to them, after all. That wouldn't be perfect, and that's what they have. Hollow perfection.
For your ideas in your profile.
Idea The First: Kim writing the letter because she thinks Tommy doesn't love her because they don't have sex. Kim should get herself bitchsmacked because of that attitude. If anything, that would PROVE Tommy loves her, because he's not risking her upcoming career in gymnastics by risking a pregnancy. The ONLY safe contraception is not doing ANYTHING, after all. Kim is a teenager, she's not brain-dead or ONLY thinking with what's between her legs. If anything, SHE'D be the one making sure they didn't go too far. Not everyone loses their virginity to their first significant other. And frankly, that dialogue just REEKS of stupidity. If Kim's still working in gymnastics, she's not ready. You do know what pregnancy can DO to the human body, much less first time sex, RIGHT? And yes "one time" can do it. That's all it ever takes. By the way, ever notice that this magic "right time" never shows up when the woman's on her period? Or do those things exist in your perfect vision of reality?
Idea The Second: Why would Kim abandon her new career just a few months into it? Why would ONLY Jason come back? (That bothered me on the show too.) Do you know when their senior year BEGINS? Who else would be around? Who the villains would be? Believe it or not, Power Rangers ia also about beating up the bad guys, not who gets to the senior prom with who.
Idea The Third: That's been used already. Her coach was a VERY NICE PERSON. The idea of anyone else writing the letter at all is an insult to Kim and Tommy both. It's what HAPPENED. Just DEAL WITH IT.
Idea The Fourth: So, this guy's a master forger who can get hold of Tommy's address without Kim knowing it? And Kim never bothers to call or write to Tommy, or any of the others, afterwards? Can't you SEE the huge gaps in logic and plot there?
Look, if you want a good Kim/Tommy idea, think about those years they were already together. What was their first date really like? How did Tommy deal with dating an active RAnger, while he wasn't anymore? How often was Kim called away when they were trying to have some time together? Did he ever feel hurt or alienated when the others just seemed to forget he existed for a while? Did he still want to help Jason teach classes? Was he ever put at risk by a plot of Rita's? What about when his powers were weaker, when Zedd was around? Especially as they began to fade entirely. How did he and Kim deal with things then? Maybe you could write a different way for the Green powers to be destroyed entirely, and almost kill Tommy.
You don't have to write reunion after reunion to write them together. Enough people have done that. Why do you want to add to all of it? Write something that'll make you stand out, that'll make you unique, and that will show you're not just a drone following the crowd. All the fanfiction in the world isn't going to get them back together on the show, you know. Explore the time they WERE together.
