'she isn't real' how delusional is Harry? I am waiting for the point in the story where Harry accepts this premise, this fics idea has so much potential but even till chapter six the mc has not even processed that he is in a different world, i think this denial should have been over in chapter 2 or at most 3, after that we should have seen Harry at last enjoying a family and some real family interactions, these interactions which you have written where harry thinks they are illusions do not have any significance because harry thinks they are fake people, you are not exploring the idea of a harry who has been relieved from his burdens, you are just stuck like a stubborn shit stain on the idea that Harry can't grasp reality

you say that this story is character driven not action driven but even the characters are not progressing, harry's relationship with any of the character has not changed or improved, you have made it so vague that I don't know what harry thinks about the characters, are they still imposters to him ?or has he accepted that they are real or has he even accepted them as his family?, even though most of the chapter is Harry's rambling thoughts we still don't know these basic things.

I love the concept of this fic and your writing is also not bad, but the characters are so unrealistic in their behaviour,
First is Harry who can't grasp his situation even after 72 hours in this new reality, he still thinks these are imposters, what will be the purpose of such ruse? they are not even trying to get something from him, they are worried for him and he just ignores that and thinks they are polyjucide death eaters who are acting, stupid, also he is so weak and not good at trying to conceal his turmoil.
Second are all the family and close family friends they have known a version of harry since he was born and suddenly that version technically dies tbh and is replaced by an imposter in a sense and no one bloody notices, his mother who gave birth to him, his father, his sister who must have known him all her life they all just don't notice his obvious signs, even if they don't suspect an imposter can't they see his obviously weird behaviour, can't they all sit and have a serious and thorough chat as a family, how can they just ignore and just narrow their eyes and forgot when next scene arrives, also they are in a magical war where people can imporsonate others, shouldn't they be hyper aware about weird behaviour. it's just tedious to belive i am dropping this for now, maybe when I have more patience might give this a try.

harry still thinks these are imposters!? What the heck does he think Voldemort wants by making this happen, does harry think these are polyjuiced death eaters who are acting as james and lily and being all lovey dovey and violet is also a disguised death eater! does harry think so highly of himself that such elaborate plans will be made just to confuse him? it's not like they have attacked him or asked him anything of sensitive information of the war, what delusion is harry living in for 4 long chapters it's been 2 days right? he can't comprehend anything in 48 long hours!?

it has been 4 long chapters yet so little has happened and the most weird part is a lot of obviously weird signs are being ignored and harry is also very very slow in processing his situation, he has seen so much evidence yet he can't grasp the situation, I will politely say get on with the story don't drag so much

violet is 100% right- its a war and one needs to dirty their hands in order to save lifes. they either cling to their morals and pay in blood of inocents or they do what needs to be done, abandon their moral and get the results
between keeping people alive and keeping ones morals its not even a question what the priority is

Ah the old morals argument. Sounds convincing until the entire “light” side is dead…..and no fallout from Violet’s use of an unforgivable?

Not sure if you are still writing, but a few observations on this story. While reasonably well written, the characters don’t act as people would in these circumstances. Too much happening with Harry for everyone to simply ignore it. This might help with your story, but these choices take the reader out of the flow of the story itself.

This also contributes to the very slow pace. There’s not only no action, there’s very little character interaction, development, or depth. Story seems to be losing steam as a result.

I've just finished re-reading this fic after years and I'd forgotten the twist at the end and it was just so beautiful. This story really tugged on my heartstrings and I just wanted to leave a comment thanking you for your beautiful story 3

"Then I'm coming with you," Violet said stubbornly. "No!" Harry snapped. "You're not taking that risk." ...Oh no, here we go AGAIN. The Longbottom grave, Hogsmead, Lily's death. The consistent stupidity of "I'm going to be as obstructionist as possible" at the worst possible moment of crisis. The delay in action due to bickering, debating and "helping" strikes again. They are all incredibly stupid is not the strongest way to forward the plot. Not a bad story but kind of weak.

for me this is one of the best hp fics out there
