I don't agree with Peter being forgiven, but good otherwise
| Guest chapter 18 . 2/26
Loved this, but couldn't help but think of all the things that could have been done with a dark-mark detecting ward...If the death eaters couldn't get past it, there would be soooo many ways to abuse that (think 'Diagon Alley ward, midday on a busy week, with apparition wards' or the ministry building). Place the surrounding ward, call a fiendfyre drill, then nab anyone who gets stuck. Easy.

Loved what you did with Peter. Similar to what is always thought...

While the story wasn't too bad I wasn't happy that you not only left so many unanswered questions but that you also brought Pettigrew back into the Marauders lives. A main question is what happened with Malfoy and his family (they are just as guilty as him of kidnapping and usurping Harry and his rights), did they just get away scot-free, did Sirius strike Narcissa (and/or Bellatrix) from the Black family? At the very least, Dumbledore should have banned Malfoy from entering Hogwarts; even Draco has already shown his character and I guarantee that it hasn't improved.
Another question that you never addressed was what happened with Snape; no matter how useful he May prove in the future it doesn't change the fact that he is the one who set Voldemort onto the Potter's. Just because Dumbledore believes in unlimited 'second' chances doesn't mean he should reward someone who willingly became a death eater. I also can't see James being happy or comfortable with letting Harry go to a school where a death eater is allowed free reign, not even with Dumbledore's reassurance.
Though, I think the biggest disappointment was how the Marauders just forgave Pettigrew for all of his crimes and choices; remember, above all they were his choices. The Marauders can make excuses for him all they want but it's not changing the fact that he is responsible for Lily's death, Harry's attempted murder (by Voldemort), Harry's kidnapping (by Malfoy), and for the second attempt at kidnapping Harry that led to his capture.
Pettigrew chose to join Voldemort (if he could bind people to him unwillingly then he wouldn't have any enemies because he would have simply bound them), Pettigrew chose to reveal information that the Potter's wanted kept quiet about Harry, he chose to reveal their location, he chose to run like a coward, he chose to tell Malfoy where Harry was, and he chose to try and kidnap Harry himself later. He wasn't 'forced' to do any of these things, he chose to do them. Why, after a little whining and cowering, does he get total forgiveness because he was 'scared'; plenty of people were scared and they never reacted the way that he did (or does he think that Lily was happy to die).
The story had great potential but I'm afraid that (for me) it fell complete flat because of the ending. Between what was left unanswered and what was shown it just wasn't an enjoyable read; the beginning and middle were done well but it's like you just rushed through the end with the easiest answer presented, not even a very realistic option just the easiest. It wasn't terrible but it just wasn't great. I do thank you for taking the time to write this (no matter how long that time was/is) and for posting it; keep up the hard work.

I loved this. It's the first story I have read where James survives but Lily doesn't. I really like your stories and I'm starting the 'Truth' series as soon as I finish typing this. You're an amazing author and I hope you keep writing.
