Reviews for Uncommon Law
Nemo chapter 11 . 1/7/2007
A little thing which is missed in Chapter 11.

We didn't get to see Misato and Shinji saying the three magic words I love you to each other. So readers, please make up some scene in the part where Misato chases after Shinji, where they tell each other those magic words.

But .. of course the degree of cornitude for this story will be inflated up by a factor of 10 ... :)

Otherwise ... kudos for a such an excellent romantic comedy.
Guest chapter 11 . 12/6/2006
This is long, long after the guy left the message about population, but I happened to be looking over this and saw it. I figured I would take a shot at answering his points.

In most of the industrialized world, the population IS declining. In those parts of the world where people can decide when and whether to have kids, most people are choosing to have only one child or none at all. The population of western Europe has been dropping since the 70s, the population of Japan has been dropping since the 80s, and the only reason the population of the US and Canada aren't dropping even faster is that both countries are very aggressively bringing in immigrants from the Third World.

Combine this with Second Impact, which I imagine not only disrupted things and killed millions of people in the industrialized world, but surely also caused an immediate end to assistance in the Third World. It is not hard imagine hundreds of millions died in the industrialized world.

Now imagine what must have happened in the Third World in the months and years after Second Impact. I am thinking of billions dead. Billions with a B. It would go on and on, over months and years, as the survivors fought over scraps, this time with no UN peackeeping troops to keep them from one another's throats and hand out trainloads of rice and flour and blankets donated by the First World, because no one would be in any position to help anyone else for years and years. It would be something like the Apocalypse. Most of the world would become one gigantic charnel house. Most of the world would go back to the Stone Age and stay there.

Given that scenario, I am thinking that continuing rapid declines in the population in the remaining industrialized nations would be viewed as a serious problem, though whether Japan would amend its laws in such a manner is debatable.

It is, at a minimum, a plausible enough idea that I approve. But then I approve of almost all Shinji x Misato stories, because it has always seemed to me that she is Lady Fujitsubo to his Prince Genji ("Tale of Genji." Google for it), and it makes me squee with delight when they get together.
Devavrata chapter 11 . 10/26/2006
One of the highlight of this story is how you can portray almost all characters in a sympathetic and positive light. One of the reason why in the EVA there is no resolution regarding pairing is because the relationship among them are so complicated. In the case of Misato-Shinji pairing, the problem is Asuka and Kaji. But you manage to pull off a good story without degrading their characters. I like that.
araym chapter 11 . 8/12/2006

1-winged slacker chapter 11 . 6/9/2006
It's cliche at it's best! I love this story. It alternated between semi-seriousness and comedy incredibly well. I love the funny ending.
Ghost of Meat chapter 11 . 5/31/2006
You should have put in a place for there not being anymore angel attacks and that for "some reason" instermentality was off, and mabe a chapter for the misato shinji wedding. that would have worked pretty well, still good though
Sun S. Li chapter 11 . 5/21/2006

Random832 chapter 6 . 4/26/2006
Why is it that no-one has said at any point in this story "There are 4 billion (20 number of 6.1bn, cut in half, and projected pessimistically forward to 2014) people on this planet. That's more than twice as many as there were 100 years ago (1910, 1.75bn; 2bn was reached in 1927). This 'repopulation' idea is just a bunch of horses*, there's still plenty of population left from before. 'threat to continued existence', my eye!" Sure, the law is the law (though i'd like some of whatever the people who supposedly wrote that law were drinking and/or smoking), but that's no reason to block S/A's annulment, or to outlaw monogamy. Monogamy worked just fine when we hit 4 billion for the _first_ time in 1974. It only took 38 years for the population to double from 3bn in 1961 to 6bn in 19.
Anoui chapter 1 . 4/11/2006
Now this is a work of art, I have read through this story countless time and only wish my work could come close to this, simply stunning. But I must say that I enjoy most of your works, especially with the odd couplings. I just can't really see Shinji and Asuka being together.
