![]() ![]() ![]() I don't know how I haven't found this story before! I love it! |
![]() ![]() Another wonderfully fantastic story! I understand that you must have written this quite a few years ago but it still is a great message for today. Just like every great story, its lessons will not ravage with time. This had an exciting plot and I love all the warm fuzziness! Thank you for writing this. You are an excellent author. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Why is this magnificent story sitting at a mere sixty-some reviews? Believe me when I say that such a number does *not* represent its perfection. All I can say that this story is one of the best I have read in a long, long time, and I'm no stranger to the LoTR fandom. The perfect blend of heartwrenching moments, edge-of-your-seat cliffhangers, and warm fuzzies is enough to endear this tale to anyone. Wow. That's all I can say. In the case of Ralorn, praise is also (over)due. Precious few authors these days have the capacity to create an antagonist who isn't really so, but a deep and complex character who suffers from misdirected hate. You gave him a truly realistic personality, and the way he redeemed himself in the end was something that no one with a heart couldn't help getting teary-eyed over. Again, all I can say that is that this is a wonderful, wonderful story the likes of which are rarely found on this site. I have so many aspects that I could could praise you in, but to list them all would take several pages, which my poor fingers are not up for now. Let's just say that your story is one that I will treasure for years to come. I can only hope that you'll come back to this fandom one day, because this site would be a better place if you still wrote here. Eryniel Alassë |
![]() ![]() ![]() i like it |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wonderful story! I enjoyed it! I'm glad that Estel has fully healed. I love Estel angst but I always want it to end happily. Yay! |
![]() ![]() ![]() ARWEN! Now I knew something was fishy when the horse name was Asfaloth (which if I'm correct is Glorfindel's horse). So I thought it might have been Glorfindel in disguise. How he would pull that off I have no idea, but Arwen! I did not see that coming! I LOVE this story btw! I'm eagerly onto the next chapter! |
![]() ![]() ![]() This is an amzaing touching story and i love it! i hate what happens to Estel but thats the story and it ends wonderfully! |
![]() ![]() did anyone else notice that "Gowen's" story was almost word for word of Garett's story from the cartoon "Quest for Camelot"? |
![]() ![]() ![]() Loved it! |
![]() ![]() loved it. definitely one of the best stories i've read recently! you have a tight plot, well developed characters (who react realistically to things! THANK YOU FOR THAT!), and it's well written-i didn't have to sludge through bear/bare and all those kind of things. i thought your oc's were well developed and interesting. and i honestly cannot say this enough-thank you for having an aragorn that's realistically affected by the stuff he went through. in most stories, he's perfectly fine and just kind of bounces right back and it's rather annoying. aragorn's response to his torture added a level of realism missing in most torture fics. so thanks. and all i can say is: KEEP WRITING! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Phew was this one good? I have to admit the summary didnt really entice me and i felt a little unsure about it...so on that note ive got no idea why i started reading it. Only i'm now glad i did. It was a bit slow going, especially around chapters 6 to 10 but that didnt mean i didnt enjoy the twists, mystery and hurt/comfort and adventure of it all _ You really confused me with Arahil, my canon knowledge of Tolkien is not what it used to be but Asfaloth as always in my mind been connected to Glorfindel...but that made no sense when Ralorn said the elf was really young, or with the raven hair. Though to be fair you practically did tell us who 'he' was during chap4 'grey eyes...almost feminine?' Aragorn recognised 'him'...should have been a dead giveaway but like for Ralorn and the others the fact that it wasnt is amazing. I'm glad though that you added that little bit of horse history in there...was that because someone complained over the name of the horse you gave Arwen, is there actually some note of such a thing in tolkien's books or was it intended as such from the start? Gowen's treasure, you seemed to hint that it was more than even Gowen knew of in quote: "...even more than he knew himself" chap1. In what way then? AS Gowen told Aragorn what the design inside the walnut was during there story tellings. It also seemed a bit odd that Ralorn never seemed to bother with the 'treasure' after getting Aragorn. Not to mention what he thought it was so that he wanted it so badly? Also, 9 years of putting up with the lad while keeping him in fairly good health? No way! Why bother...it should have been clear after a year perhaps that the boy wouldnt say anything and after impeding on the groups suplies all that time? What? Did he keep the child around because he wanted human company? I'm sorry but that makes NO sense. I really liked the falcon's perception and part in this tale. The horses are very well done too...Tole constantly making me smile and the 'origin' of him and why he could and would follow Estel that you gave was perfect to answer that question. And adorable too. The chapter where Legolas reunites with Estel is heartrenching in its intensity. Similarly is Estel's arrival and reccuperration in Rivendell, Elrond's waking from nightmares while they are still captured and Elrohir's near death with Elladan's reaction. One scene, that really covers two chapters, and which i felt was quite possible the most powerful moment of the entire fic is the one where Aragorn 'lets go' of Ralorn and the whole showing him mercy, Ralorn seeing the bond between the 4 and aftermath after Ralorn walks away part. It just made me smile, gave a new light to all the characters portrayed and really 'got me going'. It also allowed me to 'forgive' Ralorn you know. Before, even knowing his story and Arwen's words to him I didnt like the idea of you 'changing' him so that he was no longer the overcome villain. I found it odd at first that he could be sorry for the loss of his companions though i expected him to be upset over the horses. I dunno, i didnt like it at the time but after the scene above and how it all spanned out, i honestly cant think of a better way to have taken him :P lol does that sense? Heck theres alot bout this one i liked. Reunion between the brothers Don and Gowen made me feel like crying particularly as i know if that were me and my brother we'd be the same. The comfort love and friendship (and angst and all that lovely stuff XD) that kep me reading. Character interactions, humor, Estel's dream over losing his light, the layers in this fic (u wouldnt happen to have made a story based on how Estel and Lego met in regards to whats mentioned here would you?), the epilogue was yummy...Legolas' description of Estel and him being alive with the ending sentence was more perfect an ending than i can say, the frustartion and difficultness of finding Estel, getting him out and all the little rebels inbetween by everyone and yeah so so much of this i wont name it all...impossible. Thanks for a great read and if i DO think of anything else (as i'm rather tired after reading all that lol) you can bet i'll get in touch :P Ciao! _* |
![]() ![]() ![]() After I read "He Was Mine" a few months ago, perhaps even a year, I decided that I should definitely read everything written by you... and now I see that it was a wise decision. This story is so beautifully written even from the very first chapter, and even though I am still too early in the plot to know what is going to happen, your writing is so strong, emotional, and captivating, that I am certain that it will be good. I can hardly wait to find some time to read the rest. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I love this story! I love all your stories! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Aw I love this story so much. Ive been reading it for about a year now but only just joined the site so this is my first chance to review properly. I loved all the Aragorn torture, I dont know why but I just love torturing the poor guy. I also really liked Tole, he was just perfect for Aragorn. The book 'The Sight' was that the one about the wolves? If it was that was such an excellent read but it made me cry at the end when she died just after finding her brother, unfair. I will now add this story to my favs and go and check any other stories you have written. Keep Writing! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Im thoroughly enjoying this story, and you write well, but there is one complaint I need to make...modern day drugs in Middle Earth? |
