You could have said a character dies or something. Man this is too sad for me. Why kill of Tommy he is the best.
| Shadows In Silence chapter 1 . 12/3/2005
This saddens me. Beautiful, strong, independent Kim, who grew beyond needing to be a helpless princess, has now been reduced to a pathetic weakling who can't appreciate what she did have and only whines about what she's "lost". She thinks her life has to revolve around breeding, instead of *living*. Tommy would be ashamed of her.
She has never had a life of her own in this. She's spent it lusting after him and trying to hold him back from being himself as well. She's got control issues. She *has* to be in control of his life, her life, and everything else.
That's what happens when girls think they've fallen in love and substitute that for maturity and independence. Get a life, pod!Kim. Stop living for the dead and live for yourself.
I've had people die in my life. I honor them by actually going on with it, not by curling up in my mental space and crying for the next few years. This cheapens and weakens Kimberly Hart. What has she honestly ACCOMPLISHED with her life now? Wow, she had a kid. What else? There is more to life than just reproducing. She's ignoring everything she could be doing to whine.
And of course there was that whole cheap, unrealistic, STUPID "reason" for the letter. I hate to have to say it yet again, but no, Kim and Tommy didn't have a "forever love". They had a high school romance. That's all it was ever meant to be. They both knew that, and they both moved on. They showed *maturity*.
But ever and again, people have to turn them back into children and halt their emotional maturity and growth at sixteen.
I can't feel any sorrow or grief here. Kim's just being too much of a wimp for it. This isn't the strong Kim that I know, and you put no effort whatsoever into making her this weakling. You made her entire existence revolve around Tommy to a sickening, revolting extent. I can't feel sorry for her at all. She needs to grow up and stop living in the past and stop thinking all she's good for is either breeding more brats or raising the one she has. What's she going to do when *he's* out of her life? Finally get around to suiciding, because that makes SO much sense.
Then when she gets to the afterlife, Tommy smacks her upside the head with a 2x4 for being a complete imbecile.

This is such a great story even though it is really sad...it has such a realistic perspective that I can't help but want to cry for Kimberly...i hope you write more stories
