Wonderful story, true to the characters. A bit disappointing that it is not finished. Perhaps one day more will be written. The author truly has a way with telling a tale that grabs the reader and refuses to let go!

Neat story. It's just like Buffy to want to stay and help, but I wonder if Faith would want to come to the future Earth. She seems to have a grudge against the old one.

I started this without realising it was unfinished (as a rule, I tend not to read works in progress) but after a few chapters I realised the scope of the story and realised it could never be told in 20 chapters. I was devastated to discover I was right! Terribly sad to see such a great story go unfinished but i understand how it happens - happens all the time to me! Still, if you ever feel like picking it up again, I'd love to hear how the story ends.

I laughed out loud at "Slutty McStabberson"; nice one. Poor Faith. She's really a mess, isn't she? Prickly, insecure, unhappy...about like in canon. I hope she gets better.

I like the way you've tied the two histories together, and it makes perfect sense for River to be a Slayer. I'm less keen on the idea that the hands of blue are demons...it takes the punch out of what happened to her if it was done by Always Evil Forces Of Hell, instead of by petty and venal humans. But, meh, I'm enjoying the rest of the story too much to worry about it.

If they knew what a cortex reader was, they must have been here for a while. How did they not know about Companions?

Meh, I'm going to put it down to "they've only been here two days and the spell that is letting them speak the language and get by had some holes in its download."

Also, Zoe rocks. "Touch him again and you're going to have real holes." Yes! Zoe, you are strong with the badass side of the Force.

The confusion with "companion" has so much sitcom potential. Can't wait to see how that one plays out when they meet Inara.

Pedantry: canonically, guests aren't allowed in the hold, the bridge, or the engine room without an escort. Mal might have relaxed that rule, though.

I particularly like Book's explanation of the Bible's view on witches in this chapter.

Seems like a coherent background, other than the origin of the Reavers (as of the BDM).

I like River's conversation towards the end. I suspect that she was relatively lucid and mainly messing around.

a) England was successfully invaded in 1688 by William of Orange.
b) William the Conqueror wasn't French, he was a Norman. While nowadays Normandy is two regions of France, claiming that he was French is similar to insisting that everyone from Texas is actually Mexican.
c) For most of history, France has been widely considered as a military powerhouse, as can be seen from how many military terms e.g. general, defence, artillery. Apparently two defeats at the hands of well-developed modern technology and an unwillingness to invade Middle-Eastern countries for no good reason causes everyone to forget that.
