About time Harry got out of Azkaban , hopefully it's not a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire though.
| Shivering.Shadow chapter 1 . 3/4
Harry Potter, a dangerous Death Eater locked away in Azkaban? I have to admit, you had me at Dumbledore's getting Grindelwald out of Nurmengard, but that seriously intrigued me. The beginning of the story reminded me of Dumbledore's first appearance in Philosopher's Stone, and the addition of Grindelwald while withholding his identity for a while was great. Dumbledore's use of Grindelwald to derail Voldemort is really interesting, but I can't help but think that it will backfire on him big time.
The last couple of paragraphs were super creepy, and I look forward to reading about what in the hell happened to Harry. (Fledgeling mage? Sounds cool to me.)

Well, that wasn't very nice, my dear, not very nice.
Reading again from the beginning I have to say that your style greatly improved.
You found a balance, YOUR balance, to all five fields of the "how to" of writing.
Keep up the good work, it is not easy to spot any faults at all, justz with the excessive grimdark, but that's what you get when you're sucked into an alternate reality.
| Fresh C chapter 22 . 3/1
Things are moving fast now. I think this is the quickest I've ever read one of your chapters... there's just so much going on I kept racing through it all.
Looks like Voldemort rightly has his suspicions of Snape. I wonder if Snape could get to Jessica even if he wanted to. It seems rather unlikely without a man inside all things considered. And it's not like Lily is just going to hand her to him either. Even she is his daughter.
Looks like Harry is in pretty crappy shape here, and mirror Harry is at least somewhat sympathetic. That's nice at least. It's one of the few good things harry has going for him recently. Wonder if these mage powers will be another good thing.
But this ending makes it seem like he can't catch even the smallest of breaks. For a second I had thought it was Grindelwald, come to collect his interdenominational traveler, but based on your preview seems like Harry has no such luck. I wonder if this means shit finally hit the fan for Snape's little conspiracy.
Note: not sure if I like previews that give information like that. It's not terrible, but it can potentially ruin the surprise a bit... unless that was all misdirection.
In any case, nice chapter.
| Moi chapter 22 . 2/28
If Dumbledore isn't careful, he'll have a fledgling mage out for revenge after himself. I'm not sure if Dumbledore has counted on the mirror also becoming a mage, as he wasn't one before. He's counting on his Harry to benefit from the mirror he's sacrificing. What will be Harry's reaction in total and his reaction influenced by becoming a mage one he has at least physically recovered? Like the Atoners, this Dumbledore himself has become a monster in his own right.
What's Lily planning, now that her trust in Dumbledore finally is gone?
Great new chapter.

So the mirrors are just equalizing one another? Or is it like absorbing? Or is it more like a twin wizard thing?
Like Gred and Forge?
| Fresh C chapter 21 . 2/15
A lot of interesting things happening here. I give you credit for pretty much addressing every negative point I brought up in my last review.
It seems as if Mirror Harry knows some occlumency as he was able to implant a partially false memory for Harry to find... or at the very least stop him from seeing the full extent of what he desperately wants to hide. It's interesting that now they can seemingly communicate to each other without being asleep. Well, without both of them being asleep anyways.
I'm not sure how to feel about the whole Mage powers Dark Arts insta-evil motiff here. Perhaps that's just Dumbledore seeking justifcation for mirror Harry's actions. But if not, well it's no deal breaker, but I've never been a fan of the "dark arts turn you evil!" theory. I feel like using the dark arts for evil, makes you evil. But practicing the dark arts themselves... well it just gives you a greater potential for evil. In my mind an auror who's mercilessly killed a thousand people with a bludgeoning hex, is more evil than a death eater who's only practiced Avada Kadavera on rabbits. Again, this isn't a big issue since you're not cramming the idea down our throats or anything. Just a matter of my personal preference.
Serverus took a level in badass here. If his actions don't somehow get leaked back to Voldemort, he'll go down as the greatest spy in history. All it would take would be for one person who he claimed to have killed to show their face at the wrong time and he's a dead man walking.
Dumbledore - still a dick. But I understand his reasoning now. Tactically it does make a lot of sense.
Off topic: On the note of unbreakable vows... you know it seems to me like that would be a much better alternative than Azkaban. I'm sure there are a lot of people who would rather swear to never do anything illegal again, on penalty of instant death, rather than rot in a terrible prison cell. And if you word the vow a certain way you can even turn your former enemy into a 100% trustworthy and conveniently disposable ally.
There must be some downside to them, otherwise I wonder why Voldemort doesn't use that on his own minions. Maybe it would have made gathering followers much harder at the onset of his career. It is kinda bad for PR "Join the darkside! all we require is a lifetime of flawless servitude under the penalty of instant death at the first sign of failure!"... then again... that's essentially what he's offering anyways. I suppose it's better to be subtle about these things.
Overall good chapter. And it didn't even end on a nail biting cliffhanger!
| Faerae chapter 21 . 2/10
Please let Dumbledore get his just desserts. Transient emotional turmoil is not nearly good enough!

"which all natural born and Dark Arts procured Mages experience"
This line showed that the story still holds potential, because original Harry getting mage powers will at least make him dark, which Azkaban should have ensured anyway. Nobody takes that and stay a "good-guy" - Nobody. Unless Original Harry starts killing people and using the dark side, the story will loose all credibility.
Anyone would get revenge in his position, and lash out.

Great chapter, I'm very curious about what mirror Harry is hiding from himself.
