filler-name-deleted-account chapter 16 . 4/8/2013 This story is beautiful. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I've read many Labyrinth fics but only a select few have caught my eye, and even less wowed me to such an extent. I can only find a handful in the running and this is definitely near the top. I read the whole thing in one sitting despite my attempts not to because I just had to know what would happen. I love your Sarah. She just seems so natural. Your writing style is lovely as well. I really enjoyed the way you phrased things and what you did with this. The plot wasn't overly complex but still held a lot. You used a lot of great movie references without overusing them and I LOVED the dialogue. I find that Jareth is often portrayed in ways that I don't favor, but he was great in this. The way he acted made so much sense to me and his lines were just...so good. I don't know. I'm so inarticulate right now, which is probably good in a way, because I find that the less articulate I sound to myself when I review, the more I loved it. It just feels like anything I say can't do the story justice. I liked the mythology as well with his heritage and the Seelie and Unseelie Fae. Having Jareth be a fae is overdone to death, but I liked how you did that in here. It seemed fitting that he would be this existence that was both dark and light and so very much alone. The dream sequences were so interesting as well. I'm really big on dreams because I remember at least one every night and often get ideas from them so I like what you did with it. They seemed to have that dream quality to them but something else that could key you in that it wasn't completely made up on Sarah's end and that they were sharing their dreams. The goblins were adorable. They really were. The way you incorporated them was so masterfully done. I'm spazzing so hard about this story right now I don't know what to do. I just read about your unfortunate situation with the sequels. It breaks my heart that it might be difficult to find a copy of them from a previous reader. I lost stories like that as well, but it wasn't quite as bad as yours. I rewrote some parts by memory several times because I kept losing the file but I eventually found all of them. It was years ago so I don't really know what happened there. Ironically, each time I rewrote it, I felt like it had gotten better, but I know it's hard to try and rewrite something with nothing to really work off it. But I digress. I'm really depressed about this now, but I understand if you can't rewrite it. I really hope you find someone who has a copy of each. My only regret is that I only found this story last night and am thus don't have a copy saved that could help you out. As it is, this first part of the story is brilliant. I'm actually dreading trying to find more Labyrinth fic to read because I feel like any I attempt to read will pale in comparison. |
