I haven't seen the movie so I don't how much has changed with it but if Ayato had any desire to live, wouldn't Ixtli possess the capacity to interfere here? Especially if the weapon is as slow as poison? She's meddled too much and has too much invested in Ayato to casually step aside while he's murdered.
Otherwise, it's an interesting concept. Not exactly my preference and a slightly odd perspective on Haruka's thought processes depending on how different the movie is from the show but certainly interesting. I just have trouble seeing Ixtli permitting Ayato's death under most circumstances.
