First of all I wanted to thank you for this story that i've read over and over again for more than a decade.

That being said, i've had alot of thoughts of 'What IfKaoru and Kenshin's ancestors had known each other and made a code, passed down through kin for only them to know if ever spoken. Kaoru had escaped when she was offered as a slave with the help of her spy network, and fleed to her mother's homelands where she became a great warrior princess. Kaoru had powers that were triggered after she left. Kaoru traveled to many countries, speaks many languages, practices many combat styles, can fly with broom, and becomes more accomplished with her already upbring knowledge. She overhears that The Prince from foreign lands, also known as the great battousai, has chosen Tomoe to be this bride and she goes to intercept his party while he is traveling on his way to her family's Kingdom. She tells him her story, why she doesn't want this marriage to happen, tells him that she's not afraid of him to his face, and leaves hoping that next time they meet it will be on good terms.
- Kenshin ends the engagement once he sees that she was telling the truth, returns to his kingdom where his uncle who has returned from his travels has decided that there would be a ball for him to choose his new bride
- Misao has been keeping in touch with Kaoru and invites her. She does let Megumi, Tokio, Shura, and Tae in on her plan since her King is still smitten with the warrior princess. Kaoru shows up at the ball as the mystery princess, extends her stay with her charade and only reveals her combat skills when Sumita tries to kill her in public but her power lets her rove his soul from his body and turn him to dust. Kaoru has to go to the Kamiya Lands and get a few things that will aid in the war and Kenshin's party gets to see what use to be her home. Warriors of the North and her large spy network joined the war. Tomoe succeeds in activating the Temple power but Kaoru uses hers to bend the power to her will and use it against Tomoe and Akira.
Enishi tries to kill Kaoru but Kenshin battles him and destroys him.

The possiblities have been endless in my imagination! Lol!

You have stolen my heart with this one story. I had just finished Rurouni Kenshin with my father yesterday and was looking for something that would give me the ending and happiness that I needed for the end of this anime. I just happen to come across this story and from the first chapter I was not bored at all. The magic, the plot, the character development and the love was more then I was asking for. It was beautiful and I couldn’t believe that I found myself staying up all the way to five in the morning to read this. Thank you so much for this wonderful story and I hope you are proud of it because I’m crying.

I know this story is old and you probably don’t care if people are still reading it. I just have to let you know how much I love this story. This is the only story I have read multiple times and still love each and every time. It’s so well written and gives me goosebumps. I hope life allows you to write more. Your stories are great (I think I have read almost all of them).

Lovely store. I had to force myself not to read it all the way through. I wanted this to last. You have done a wonderful job. Setting the foundations and executing where it was needed.

I do have one question what was the pale thread that Kenshin found through the bond that he was excited about? It was not made clear what that meant.

I will be holding out for a epilogue though.

I simply love this story. I lost count of how many times I’ve read it throughout the years. Sometimes I reread it entirely, sometimes just some parts.. it was a huge part of my teenage year and even now it still touches me. The last chapter is so sweet and always makes me cry when she associates magic and heated towels to home 3 I don’t know if you still read these reviews, but I hope you know you had great impact on some people’s lives with these stories (in my case, especially this one), so thank you 3

An intriguing AU with a nice balance of character interactions!

This is a pretty good story. You said in your A/N at the beginning of this chapter that there would be an epilogue, but there isn't one. Did you scrap the idea? If so, that's a shame because the way this chapter ended it feels like there should be an epilogue and I'd really like a glimpse of their lives after they have children.
