The whole taking the dragon to the astronomy tower was completely moronic, the guys on the broom could of just flown to Hagrid's hut to pick it up instead of the big plan of sneaking it thru the castle. Also them forgetting the cloak was what I like to call PFS (Plot Forced Stupidity) used to advance the story.
