I love this chapter very much, because Hakkai is so "in character". His brave, but futile attempt to explore Sanzos psyche and justifying thoughts when taking care of the monk are just matching my personal view of this underestimated character.(Usual remark: English isn't my first language, sorry.)

Yah, another masterpiece. I am left breathless as always. And like you I'm not that huge a fan of 38/83 either (Hmm, come to think of it, I don't think I fancy them together at all) but you pulled it off quite nicely in this chapter-love the line 'he knows this body, professionally, if not intimately'~~ That is just something you can quite tell even from the anime. And I loved how you gave Gojyo that characteristic sense of responsibility (of disposing of the dead) even when he was disgusted with the act of murder/manslaughter/temporary-insanity-on-Sanzo's-part itself. And I liked seeing Goku more than just the gluttonious (sp?) monkey that he is. His (rare, but we know it's there) thoughtful streak really shows here. Again, a truly enjoyable chapter. Now, a 53 face-off perhaps? XD

So many things I want to say about this, even with the privileges of a Beta-reader. Your Hakkai is as briliiant a characterisation and portrayal as I have ever seen. I had no qualms at all that you would be able to do so.

Also in the opening sentence it drips with stillness and darkness. How you have used 'Life' and 'Zombie' with a 'second chance at living', I find is allegorical Of the daemon-like human Gonou becoming the human-like daemon Hakkai. Which Sanzo throws back in his face later on. So very elegant.

Angels and devils, where it was Sanzo and Gojyo previously it is Sanzo and Hakkai now. As I said also subtly done, the rippling of undercurrent. I also love the Hakkai and Goku hinted at rivalry.

Your prose is absolute poetry..and I could gush some more...but I guess I better save some for the next time otherwise I will have run out of words to describe your beautiful writing.

Another good chapter. You do a marvolous creepy Hakkai and I loved his opening scene. The confrontation between him and Goku was also very intriging. Can't wait for more.

Yet again, this was a very interesting chapter. It kind of feels, to me, like the calm before the storm?

Another thing I liked about this chapter is the great use of...'what they're saying isn't really what they mean.' It gives it that very distinct -Saiyuki- feel.

I found it amusing (in a good kind of -smug- way), being such a big 39 fan meself, how kind of...subtle the Hakkai and Sanzo parts were, but completely straight forward with the Sanzo and Goku ones. Bwaha. Usually I avoid a story at all if it has 83/38 in it, but for this, I bit the bullet and read it. You more than made up for it though .

This chapter was a lot easier to digest than the last one. You did a really great job, and I'll be obsessively waiting for that update. In a completely non-stalkerish non-obsessed way, of course...

Wow. This is really intense. All the thoughts running through Sanzo's head while he's looking in the broken mirror... Very deep stuff. I've had bad nights like this. Sanzo's pain, his depression and restlessness, are all very realistic and well done. So typical of him to choose the self-destructive, self-defeating course and go out alone...

I like it, a lot. And I just want you to know that you can make Sanzo as angsty as you want, pour it over him if you desire. I like him that way...

Wah! That's hot. And of course since this piece is almost 100% Gojyo/Sanzo I am indeed still hyperventilating from the excitement. I don't know if it was intended, but I thought despite his arrogant words, Sanzo does feel guilt, regardless whether he's conscious of it or not, after Gojyo tells him he's killed a maybe-innocent guy.

And the *Oh Shit* when Sanzo catches a glimpse of the red hair after pulling the trigger was nectar! Okay! Reading this has inspired me to get my ass working on my long overdue MX fics. Thanks so much!

wow. this is the only fanfic i've ever read w/ yaoi in it that i actually liked anyway. i hate yaoi. specially when it stars characters that are straight in canon (like in saiyuki *hint hint*)

Well, this chapter certainly was...interesting. I'm not going to lie and say I completely understood, because I didn't, but we're not supposed to understand yet, are we? I hope, heh.

This chapter had a very...nightmare-ish dynamic. Very surreal. It seemed so to me at least.
