Reviews for What is Right: Year One
BarbedCaress chapter 2 . 4/8/2023
"Well, as long as I wear my hat and don't say my name too loudly"
Draco? Who's your new friend?
Oh, hello Father. This is Harry Potter.

So, tell me again why Draco was placed in the house of the cunning?
Idiot.
moodysavage chapter 19 . 3/9/2023
I loved this story! Not sure why Harry doesn't confide in Snape but anyway...really like this!
TsukuyoGintoki chapter 19 . 3/9/2023
I really like this story but it is weird how Harry can't recognize that he is ONLY 11. Even though he has memories that does not mean he's not 11 years old.

plus, it's weird that he doesn't see potential for turning the Malfoy's against Voldemort.
Ghostwriter chapter 19 . 1/11/2023
Oooh I like it. Well done.
Guest chapter 19 . 10/16/2022
This was a wonderful read. Thank you so much.
Elly chapter 6 . 8/10/2022
"was hunting for an ingredient and he couldn't quite remember what soothed cuts and scrapes. Was it moonstone? No. Aha. I knew it. Murtlap essence. Thank you, old Hermione."

ummm out of all potion ingredients, Harry became intimately familiar with this one and wouldn't forget it. could find a better example :)

Being as I'm reading this in 2022... the A/N is redundant - but I will say that I believe Deathly Hallows should be collected, stacked and either burned or used as toilet paper... And all my distain is aimed at the epilogue... I loved the books - and the movies were okay, but I really hated certain things... I worked for a time in Psychology... Mentally abused kids do not good people make... The attention Dumbledore gave Harry was creepy... I had him pegged as a Paedophile in book one... (Nice and kind and offering sweets... "Just come to my office alone Harry my boy, I have a Phoenix and sweeties...) Sorry, Harry was just too trusting...
jaqmaq77 chapter 13 . 7/25/2022
Interesting and captivating - but a Harry Potter that is so locked up and wound so tight that he never lets go? The hints about the 'training' are more than a bit disturbing - it comes across as being on par with the tortures he suffered at Voldemort's hands. I had some nasty and down-right evil 'trainers' in my youth, but these 'trainers' you describe sound like they did more to disturb Harry's mental state than the death eaters... I'm reminded of a girl I knew in rural Spain, so mentally tortured by her own family, she eventually found a way to kill them all in their sleep... Propane... nasty stuff... shows how screwed up my life was... I almost married her...
jaqmaq77 chapter 3 . 7/24/2022
I'm really baffled... 7 pairs of jeans? I'm 70 and I don't think I've ever bought 2 pairs of jeans together... and at 11? Why in the name of all that's holy would an 11 year old need or want 7 pairs of jeans - at 12 that would be 6 pair to bin... cause the waist will be too small and the legs would be at half mast... Now as an adult, even with weekly washes, my Wranglers and my Levi's lasted about 6 years... then I bought a new pair... and that's with sitting on the Harley...
It's an interesting story, but I assume a female writer? Again, my brother at 75 and an ex model only bought one pair of Levi's at a time...
aalens chapter 3 . 7/22/2022
Great start to the story.
BTW, I hope you don’t mind an on the fly Brit pick? Wisteria Walk, Surrey, is not enough information to get there. Surrey is not a town, it is a county containing many towns and villages, Harry would have needed to say the town name at least, or he could have ended up in a dozen or more different places. ( Yeah, sorry, I think I must be in a bad nit-picking mood today.)
Leapyearbaby29 chapter 2 . 6/21/2022
I hope Harry is still in Gryffindor. If he’s in Ravenclaw, he’ll still get noticed a lot.
jaqmaq77 chapter 10 . 3/15/2022
He laughed... very enjoyable read, Harry getting better is a great concept, and the idea of the Malfoys changing is fun...
Reading stories to kids in hospital is a fond memory for me, also reminds me of reading to my grandchildren, but why do a lot of people question the funny voices? You just can't read to children without the funny voices...
Question... when you're feeding a baby or toddler with a spoon... do you open your mouth too? Apparently, I do...
jaqmaq77 chapter 9 . 3/15/2022
A little less suicidal, I am pleased to see... ;-) An excellent chapter and strangely I'm happy to see a touch of the evil Lucius peeking through... I like Narcissa, and Draco's changes are a breath of fresh air... McNair's in character and Malfoy's reaction was perfect. The change in Snape is very well done too.
jaqmaq77 chapter 7 . 3/15/2022
I'm liking the story, yet absolutely hating this wimpy version of Harry. I'm only reading it but it's making me feel depressed and suicidal... and at 70, not something I have ever felt before... This Harry is just... I don't know... I did three years late phone with as a samaritan... I heard stories that curled my hair, but you have put Harry in a class of his own...
Dark-Prince-of-Clowns chapter 7 . 3/14/2022
Wait... did Quirrel polijuice himself as dumbledore or something? Oo

No way in HELL would dumbledore actually allow -much less encourage- Harry to spend time unsupervised with a man he KNOWS is firmly in Voldemort's camp.

He could do ANYTHING to Harry when he's there. Poison him with a slow-acting poison or curse that would kill him later, get him under the imperio curse, or just plain brainwash him, to name a few.

If he was worried about Harry he'd either send him with someone like the Weasley's -or some other light family- if he could manage, and if not, keep him in the hospital ward.

So I can't even imagine what must snap in his brain for him to send a helpless child to stay with a known, dangerous enemy.

I get Lucius tho. And Harry's confusion.

It's easy to think the enemy isn't human. But even the cruelest enemy is as human as everyone else. Normal, mentally healthy people are always the ones who enables and helps the more sociopathic ones... and they're often worse. (Like the guards at the concentration camps)

But faced with a child in pain, even the most brutal of men tend to want to save them. It's human nature.

So kudos for that.

And I am SO going to LOVE to see how torn Lucius will be when he realize his Master is back, and he'll be forced to choose between a child he cares about, and a Master and a Cause he honestly belives in paired with the knowledge that his family will pay if he displeases Voldemort. _
