mugglehugger chapter 1 . 11/18/2015 This is the best one-shot I've read in a while. It was so crisply done - I really liked the organization, and the development of their relationship was just right. Thanks for making my morning! |
Shamelessly Radiant chapter 1 . 7/15/2015 This is one of my favourite Dramione one-shots ever, and you are one of my favourite writers. Draco and Hermione are always wonderfully in character, and your plot seems realistic and true to the books. I especially love the quiet progress you ilustrate here. And the symbolism with the number 9. It is beautifully, beautifully done. I respect you for not partaking in any Ron-bashing, too. The Thestral scene brought tears to my eyes, and the 'To an outsider, these interactions were the normal exchanges of two colleagues and war veterans. To anyone who had known them at school, they were possibly signs of a coming apocalypse.' had me laughing out loud. The 'you'll have to stop calling me that eventually' had me smiling. The ending was perfect. The 'I love you' in an accusatory manner divine. And this is a HUGE COMPLIMENT I am going to give you: To me you are a writer who is on the same level (or almost) as Sage/everythursday. I love you both so much, and you have both such ways to tell a story. I always come back to you. |

maddie lel chapter 1 . 11/12/2014 Ahhh, the prettiness of this fic is beyond words, almost like poetry - there's literally not a single word out of place. I love how the fic starts out with an underlying tone of despair, that slowly but surely evolves into hope. It's a great physical representation of war, how we have so many scars within us, and they can't all be washed away, but they don't need to weigh us down. It echoes very nicely to JKR's message in the epilogue that life goes on, no matter how impossible. Further, I absolutely love the progression of Hermione and Draco's relationship here. It felt very natural, and for the first time, I found myself rooting for a pairing I usually despised. Too often it's overhyped, and either Draco's too soft or Hermione's too sweet, but you have none of that in this fic. And I'm especially taken with the fact that Ron's not been bashed, and his relationship with Hermione cast aside. No one bashes my baby and gets away with it XD On another note, I love the bits of pieces of nine you insert at the beginning of each section. I'm a bit of a mythology junkie, and you don't know how much I love you for the little mythology you inserted in. It was the cherries on top of the cake. Which makes me wonder, btw, if you did it purposely hahaha. (You published this gorgeous fic on my birthday, if you realise). Thanks so much, for this amazing read. I loveloved it from start to end, and my only regret is that it isn't longer. XOXO P.S. I wanted to ask, did you put number 9 purposely? It's one step away from 10, an impossibly perfect whole number, the closest to perfection and happiness that the pair can possibly reach, mired down by scars and flaws as we are. In which case, I think I'll have to bake you a cake, for this beautiful metaphor of human life. All my love! |
