You captured the rawness of these feelings so well. I feel so badly for them! It was both funny and sad and thoughtful. Great stuff.

I find this to be one of the most amazing fics on the insight of the turtles childhood I've ever read. I like the fact that they are children. not miniturized version of the turtles which is a what a lot of people do. Because most of the time our childhood personalities are very different from our older teenage selves.
I like theres an immaturity in them. In how leo writes what he see's because children rarely thunk more deeply than they think they should. They don't know that not everything is at it seems and I like the fact that you portrayed that in leo. Since he's suppose to be the matured one and less prone to thinking badly of others and more to blaming himself. I like seeing this child like reality because it's very realistic. I hate it when people stereotype the turtles even from their childhood because children aren't caged by that. They are influenced yes but it's bit by bit and not all at once. Never all at once. I have 4 younger sisters and I know the difference between each of them and what makes them tick but I can still say they all share the same immaturity I had as a child even if I am a different person now and theres nothing wrong about that.
I like that you show donnys inclination towards science but there's still something childlike about it. I remember being that way. Everything is about curiosity. Never about the consequences or about the morality of what our curiosity or experiments and I like that you showed that.
I loved that you didn't make mikey a wimpy crybaby. He's imaginative and annoying as little brothers come and always come up with the silliest of retorts in argument (I remember my 'iinfinity' arguments with my brother even now) but you can see the difference between mikey and leo because leo doesn't really have the level of imaginative argument that mikey has so he's not as quick to retort to the silliness as raph or donny would have been.
I think what I loved the most is that leo is being honest in his writing. But not to the brink of angry self expression like raph or intelligent assumptions like donny. He's just being leo.
The only gripe I have is that you make leo seem very talented in training and thats something I never thought actually made sense. I've always considered leo to have been less talented in his training compared to husisrothers or at least not the best. Because being as disciplined or as hardworking as we know he is would imply that he know he needs to work on it and that it doesn't come as naturally. I've always thought that it was leo's hard work that made him better not his natural talent.

:) I thought it was touching and believable-the way he wrote really sounds like a kid.
| Winnychan chapter 1 . 9/7/2007
This is one of the best stories I've read featuring the turtles in their younger days. The written voice of young Leonardo himself is especially brilliant. Also the way you've portrayed Splinter is just priceless. So insightful, wise, and kind.
I really loved this!
| Flora chapter 1 . 12/9/2006
So much like my family. Are you sure you didn't take the journal and microscope experiences from my childhood? :)
Beautifully written. Thanks for this, Kyabetsu. I have a bit more understanding of Leonardo now. I have trouble empathizing with him sometimes.
| Reijiro chapter 1 . 11/26/2006
Brilliant, funny for the most pat, with a very touching ending.
I know it's not funny in isolaton but I think "Day 4 again: Mike tried to see my notebook. Donatello’s not smart really." had to be my favourite line.
Liked the insight nto chibi turtle life through Leo's eyes, and into Splinter's parental angst,
Very well done.
| TigerChickTigriss chapter 1 . 7/5/2006
I liked this. It reminds me of the way me and my older sister where when we where younger. NO privacy at ALL! I feel sorry for Leo...
