In fact, it deosn't do much differently from the majority of KimRon or, really, any other basic ship-fic. What it does is one very interesting moment. The moment of realization in the fifth section was a very interesting and well executed device that I had not seen used elsewhere (though I may be showing a certain degree of imaturity by saying so.)
