I love this story so far. But I do have a question for you about your explanation for Gambit's message to Rogue. Previously in the chapter beforehand the bet was that Queen of Hearts card didn't mean anything. "To me or to you?" When he says "I will always bet on you" does he mean that he would bet that she thought the card meant something or that he would bet on her own bet that it meant something to him and in a way, admit some sort of feelings for her? I was just curious because that confused me. But that might be because of my twisted thinking. xD

This is hands down the best fanfiction I've ever read. PERIOD. And not just for its catagory, I'm talking out of every single fic I've EVER read, this is the best. This is PUBLISHABLE quality and it is so well written it leaves me in awe. Defenatly on my list of recomended reads. I can't wait to read the end!

i was curious if you were ever going to update this story. It is by far my favorite romy story. I understand you probably have a lot of stuff going on, but you have an amazing talent and i think this story is worth finishing

So, it took me around five days to finish this story. Sometimes staying up till two in the morning to finish the chapter. I didn't even realize what a daunting task it would be until I saw the word count around chapter ten. 300,0 words and counting? Biggest fanfic I've ever seen in my life.

To put this simply, this has got to be the best - the very, very best - fanfic I've ever read. I'm still so convinced that this isn't a fic, that this should be in some comic-made-novel thing, that it's crazy. Everyone's canon, even Rogue. You made no changes in their personality to suit your plotline like so many before have done. Your story is heartbreaking and sweet and beautiful and down-to-earth. The way you write is just astounding, like, nice and languid, flowing through the descriptive phrases. It's gorgeous.

I sound so sappy, eh? I've been thinking about it for five days, that's why.

I am in love with your Pyro! I've been close to tears from laughing a couple times over his antics and the deep shit he got himself into with Wanda :) It was bloody fantastic.

And Carol! I am so worried about her. Because her and Rogue in the same vicinity might mean bad news... Especially since in the finale of Evo, didn't Rogue fly in? -dramatic music cues-

I just adore how you're going so deep into Remy's past. Emil, Henri, Mercy, and poor, poor Etienne. It's lovely to read about them. Even though I don't know, well, anything about them really outside this story, the way you write them screams canon, unlike others I've read. And making the dead cousin - whose gather gory description made me shudder - be the reason Remy uses playing cards. That was perfect.

Question: Isn't Remy's middle name Etienne? I don't know for sure, but I've heard a couple other people mention it. Maybe he takes it on later, then?

There's so many other things I wanted to say, but now that I'm writing it out, I can't remember.

The entire story is just amazing. I'm pretty sure if you were to send this into Marvel, they'd hire you. Like, hands down. I've read a couple printed novels about the characters, and yours beats them.

Also, thank you for teaching me so many French curse words! See, this is what happens when you grow up on the wrong side of Canada. You're fluent in both, from the looks of it, and I can't speak French as well as most four year olds. -sighs-

I just love this story, and it kills me when the last update was in 2008. It's been over a year -sighs again- And as much as I'm loving Remy's back history (so much so), I'm ready for the Romy to kick in again! Although I'm surprised that I don't mind reading the Belladonna/Remy parts. I thought I'd want to see her die, but I don't, and I want to see their relationship run it's course until Remy kills her brother. -shakes head- You're just too good at writing!

Your Remy is amazing, flaws and charms balanced on a scale, tipping one way then the other. Rogue, desperately stubborn, or stubbornly desperate.

I just about had a heart attack when I thought you killed off Tante. I'm still not quite sure what happened there. Tante died and Mystique took her place? Bitch took down Jean Luc too. Took down Marius too! Though, I'm not complaining too much on that end.

Alright, I think I waxed on enough. Please, please re-post soon! You're finished the chapters, right? I don't think you can edit them any more into perfection, so please, post them!

I've spent the last few days avidly reading this fic (when I really should have been preparing a presentation). It's very good! It looks like your muse has abandoned you, though, for which I am sorry. Still, with the month I've been having, it was so nice to find a quality escape from it. Thank you and good luck continuing!

Hi! I've only ever been a casual reader of fanfiction, and I've NEVER left a review before, always preferring to remain an anonymous reader...but something in the quality of your writing has drawn me out of the woodwork.

I stumbled across 'The Ante' quite by accident. I was hooked from the first chapter. I'm not the first person to say this but you write the most exquisite descriptions. Some of them are just, well...breath-taking. I would choose some of my favourites, but that would pull me back into the story again and I'd never finish this review.

You've got Rogue and Remy's characters as presented through the Evolution series down to a tee, and given them added depths with all the complexities and contradictions of real people. Your supporting characters are equally well-crafted - I just LOVE Pyro - but it's in the portrayal of Remy and Rogue that your writing really shines. Following the evolution of their tortuous relationship has been a delight (though somewhat harrowing) and as for all that unresolved sexual tension...well *fans herself*

For some reason Remy and Rogue have really got under my skin. Feels like I've been carrying them around in my head for a while now. I actually swore in French this morning. I'm hoping their influence will fade with enough distractions (i.e. Life) but I think the only way they'll ever be exorcized completely from my head is if you finish the damn story :).

I don't want you to feel pressured into finishing 'The Ante', particularly if life is a little tough at the mo (and I really hope things are going much better for you since the last chapter was posted). I can understand how much time and effort that would take up. Hell, I've been glued to my computer screen for the past few days, and I've just been reading the darn thing. Do you write original stuff? Ever considered trying to get something published? From what I've heard publishers can be une épingle dans le cul, but you have a great talent. It deserves to be shared.

The fact of the matter is that your writing has altered me in a way that no established, published author has done for a while now. You've prompted me to reconsider my life - what I'm playing for, and what I'm willing to lose. Or, as the case may be, what I'm NOT willing to lose.

Sorry for this really rather rambling comment, but I thought I really ought to tell you how awesome I think your writing is, rather than obsess quietly to myself in private :).

The last chapter posted and its my first review I hope you read this- Up to now i've been so intranzed that I had no will power to stop reading The Ante- not even a brief sec to leave a comment or read your homepage. Now it is September and i've spent the better part of 3 days reading this novel of yours, let me tell you its been FABULOUS a great read -but- having no ending makes me sad especially since i've had late late late nights (bout 5hrs sleep) reading and sneeking to read at work (sh don tell no one- not much work got done.) Carmine LaCroix thank you for the briefing at the end of the chapter. Lucia de'Medici I also thank you for the June update (are you one in the same I mean Carmine and Lucia are you the same person?) Well I wish I would of read that update before I began... I will definetly follow up to check if and when the ending is posted. Maybe then the dreams will stop.

Hi, I'm here via a rec from Sionnain and just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed the reading so far.

The atmosphere is beautifully written and characters wonderfully rich and multi-dimensional. A rare quality in fanfic.

It's taken me three days and a set of sore eyes to get through it and now I'm praying there is a continuation (hell, maybe even an ending!) somewhere down the line.

I have a little optimism to spare today and I don't think you could abandon something that obviously contains so much of you already.
