Really awesome story, I loved it, the characters are really well thought out and the touches of French and German are really cool too. I just have one bit of criticism : that is not an ending! I wanna know what happens after! Please continue.

I just recently got into fanfiction, and was amazed when I started reading this story. It is well written and compelling and all I can say is, that when you are ready, please write more. There are people out there who truly appreciate and are gratful for your efforts!

Wow, somehow I missed that there have been 4 freaking updates to this since I last saw it, so finding new chapters was incredibly exciting! This has long been my favorite unfinished fic, so seeing that it's still moving closer to conclusion is really, really thrilling. I actually wasn't sure how much I'd remember since it's been years, so I went back and read from the beginning- you know this already, but this fic is amazing. The slow unwinding of the plot, the tying in so many characters and the complex and interesting relationship between Gambit and Rogue is all fabulous. As was this chapter.

Random thoughts:
It's been super fascinating seeing the gradual reversal between Remy and Rogue. Reading from the beginning I'd forgotten just how manipulative towards and kind of a jerk to Rogue he was, basically having all the power over her while she had almost none. And now it's practically full circle, with Rogue having the upper hand and Gambit being in the dark. (I actually kind of felt a bit... sorry? for Remy in this chapter, even though I at the same time felt like I shouldn't.)

Also, I'm glad Pietro's not dead. (I honestly wasn't sure if Wanda was capable of it or not.) His getting recruited by SHIELD is going to be, um, interesting. (Especially when the rest of the Brotherhood finds out. It was especially neat seeing some fragility in Wanda- the Brotherhood scenes are always so great!) I'm also very curious to see where you're going with Danvers, and whether it's just a nod to her role in Rogue's life or if she's going to have a larger interaction with Rogue ala comics canon.

I enjoyed the Kitty/Kurt/Piotr scene a lot. Beyond all the moving the X-men plot forward, their conversation was neat as a commentary about the fic itself, or more specifically showing both sides of the Gambit debate. (It was also nice to see all the "Rogue getting control of her powers" plot devices lampshaded, since it had crossed my mind whether a collar or another workaround was going to make an appearance.)

The "over Jean Luc's dead body" scene made me wince. I can only imagine how that discovery's going to go down, especially after seeing how Belladonna is dealing with Marius's death. Yikes. I'm hoping that comment about Henri wasn't foreshadowing (ugh, I *really* hope him and Emil make it), though I vaguely seem to recall that Gambit did end up as Guild head at some point, so who knows?

I loved this line:
"Remy waited, watchful and burning with the pressure as Rogue slowly tapped at his protection, manoeuvring her words over the cracks in his armour, trying to find the weakest spot."

So anyway, fantastic and intriguing chapter, as always. Everything seems to be hurtling towards something quite epic. I'm curious to see how Rogue deals with the prophecy.

P.S.- I might have asked this a long time ago, but is there anywhere where you list perfumerie scents that are in the story? I remember being told that Dracul from bpal was what Remy smells like, but I feel like I possibly recognized a few other scents in various chapters.

I remember trading emails with you almost... well, it was years ago now, about some plot point, and thinking, this one knows what's what, this is writer with a voice and an idea and a plan. Writers like that are always a treat to discover, but life does what it and we all go our separate ways with our separate interests. In the back of my mind though, I was always sure this story wasn't done. Once a season or so, I, and I suspect many others, have checked back in with this piece, to reread favourite passages, to remember the clever phrasing or the excellent descriptions of the mausoleums, always for fun and always with hope. It is a pleasure to hear your voice again. Laissez les bon temps rouler!

Yes, yes, YES, there are still readers out there, especially for such a wonderful piece if writing as this! I admit, as I've grown older I've atopped searching around for new ff to read and have definitely stepped mostly out of that world, but I still have a few old standbys on alert and I'm SO happy when they get updated (to clarify, this is one of them) in stories like this it's easy to forget these are fanfic haracters because you really so get so attached to their storylins.

So, bottom line. PLEASE update! I literally just went and rerread the entire story before writing this review and it is 100% worth it!

This is an AMAZING story, I really hope you continue... I have been a RoguexGambit shipper since the 90s they're waayyy better than Scot and Jean... Scot and Jean have always been way too plain... All the best with your novel :)

If my long term memory serves me right, I remember reading about the date between Rogue & Remy then.. Have you edited the story now? I hope that Remy actually survives in this story, though your 'mind-voice Remy' was equally lovable in 'Deuces Wild'. Update soon please!

OH MY GOSH! I almost cried when I saw this! I have been periodically checking on this story for updates, never quite giving up on it. This is my favorite piece of Fanfiction yet. I'm so glad that you continued it! I have made my best friend read this and she loved it just as much! Thank you thank you thank you for continuing this! It so worth putting the effort to continue and I just want you to know how much it means to me. I have re-read this story maybe 5 times and I even printed out my favorite section. I have been dedicated to this for years, so thank you soooooo much for this!

I also agree with fandom and fanfiction writting are to do since people do grow older And might lost interest in writing anymore, but I'm glass you update. I think as long as u tr to finish the story no matter how long it take i be happy, unless u try dont want to .
