Finally! I have read, reread, lost, found, and stalked this fic for going on five years! This is my all time favorite remy/rouge fic and it is so good to see you giving it the attention it deserves. Keep at it!

Seriously, I am so psyched you're continuing with this story. I follow your blog so I know you've got tons of other stuff going on (This little something original? This YA gothic macabre story? Oh yeah, I'm there!), but I always hoped you might come back and finish The Ante. With your recent updates, I had hoped you might get to this one as well so I started rereading. What a treat it is! It still holds up in today's word and feels modern, yet nostalgic. The tension you created between Rogue and Gambit still leaves me on edge.

You have this way of filling in the blanks of the Evo storylines, of turning a kids' cartoon into an adult world with believeable emotions and reactions. This latest chapter is evidence of expanding on a canon that didn't quite allow these characters to be whole and fleshing them out to be real - with real feelings and flaws and motivations.

I read it. So he was captivated by Rogue for some time already, and whatever it was just didn't fade away like most other feelings do. I can't believe you are finally back! Are you kidding, I'm almost 30 LOL and I haven't left, been waiting for you and this story. It is too good to let go. Too good.

I'm so happy that after such a long time you actually updated I've read this story over and over again because it was such a good story over the years. I think I screamed a million times (silently) when I saw a new chapter had been put up. I've not been reading X-men: Evolution fanfiction for a while now, but I would always pop up and read the Ante cause it's one of my fav stories. You are such an incredible writer. What always amazes me the most is how you craft the Guild world and characters, cause as far as I know they aren't so deeply explored in the comics or in the cartoons. You are a genius! I I love chapter 22 (Immortals) the most, because of the whole Rogue/Jean-Luc conversation.
Anyway, this chapter was just so good. Your writing is as evocative as ever... with each paragraph, I can imagine the setting and the characters very well. The part where Remy feels so bitterly about Jean-Luc's arrangement of his life, Lapin's moment of wisdom, Henri's 'laissez moi', the whole 'it's a sickness, Rogue's poisoned him' part... gaaaaaah, loved it,it felt so real. I will admit though, I prefer the parts where Remy is hanging out with the Guild. I definitely hope there's more of them in the story.

It's great to know you are working on a novel. Wish you luck in the whole writing and publishing process :)
