Good story but what happened to Itachi?

This story is interesting but if an arsonist like Itachi was setting all of these fires and causing all of these deaths wouldn't the police and FBI be hunting him down? Especially since they actually know who he is

How did Itachi die, if he was so sure that only Naruto was?

Was he simply insane or was he referring to himself while acknowledging Naruto's exceptional luck?
