Nice story, read my profile if your a big marvel fan...there is something that you must read
| httpen chapter 1 . 6/23/2007
Man... talk about someone who really thinks that this is believable. That the Punisher would do that. Well guess what... it's not. Because it hasn't happen and it won't happen. Try reading a Punisher comic book to know how the real Punisher would act... but seeing as how you think... that's going to take quite a few years.

Don't normally review my own work but my last 2 reviewers don't accept private emails so I thought this was the only way.
1) DarkHeron don't call ficwriters idiots. You read our stuff, why would you do that if it were true?
2) The line "All women feel and smell like Maria" is actually a direct lift from 'The Punisher; Return to Big Nothing' where Frank sleeps with the prostitute at Verta Mae's.
3) I don't think Frank and Electra are out of character, I think their children change their character. After all, both only ended up the way they are because they lost people they love. If that's so what if they could get those people back?
4) Folks do change. Redemption for all I say.
5) Santiago, all fic is 'what if?' If you say only Garth Ennis is 'cannon' that's fine, this is just my vision.
6) I've no idea what you're on about regarding 'training child soldiers', the whole point of my story is that Frank turns his back on war, that's why he chucks the gun away at the end. I actually did read a story where Frank/Electra's daughter tries to carry on the fight but didn't like it much
7) Never read Bird of Prey and nothing like T2 in my story
8)I was disappointed with the whole Punisher; The End, it seemed to fall back on the whole 'There's an evil conspiracy screwing the world up' idea liberals love instead of accepting that mankind is just inherently flawed.
as for Frank, well he did make it because here's what happened next;
"Sit still!" the blonde girl ordered him. She pushed him back with an incredible strength that belied her petite frame and pretty features.
Frank looked around. He was surrounded by dozens of people, all healthy, none of whom seemed to be at all affected by the radiation. A beautiful dark haired teenage girl was sitting beside him, their arms connected by a blood transfusion kit.
"Don't waste your time" he told them.
"Her blood will make you immune" the blonde girl replied.
Frank stared at her unbelievingly. But he was already beginning to feel better. "How?" he asked at last.
Dawn shrugged. "Human but not born of woman. Formed in the malestrom of energy, yadda, yadda, yadda" she repeated the words in an almost bored fashion.
"It's a long story" Buffy agreed.
Frank sat back and looked at them, a good-natured intimacy apparent between the pair that suggested close relatives.
And good people.
Maybe there was hope for mankind after all?

This really sucked. Looking at one of the reviews (there are only two) I 110% completely agree with Santiago. Santiago makes many good points with many facts to them. I don’t think you have read a Punisher or an Elektra comic book at all. There both completely out of character. When characters are out of character you need to have very good reasons for that… and your so-called reasons are not good enough at all. They’re terrible. Because otherwise… what is the point? You might as well as come up with your own characters. That would at least make scene.
“She feels and smells like Maria to me. But then all women are like Maria to me”
That is truly a stupid line. Something the Punisher has “NEVER” said because it makes no sense. Then again everything the Punisher says in this is something he would never say.
Not only does the story make no sense but also the ending makes no sense. The Punisher has killed criminals for 30 some years. That’s 10’s of people… you don’t just kill that many people and simply have a normal life… it doesn’t work that way.
When they say that Garth Ennis is the only “writer” who can write the Punisher… not only do they mean other Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image and other writers… they also mean you fanfic idiots.
| Xavier Pendragon chapter 1 . 9/21/2006
"all women are like Maria to me" Yeah, right.
The whole thing with the Marvel Knights Punisher 2099 is a what if story and nothing more. It doesn’t take place on Earth-616. Because it has already been shown how the Punisher dies in “Punisher: The End” story, which does take place on Earth-616. The Punisher said nothing of anyone taken his place as the Punisher or of having a child with anyone or even meeting the kid. The Punisher and Elektra had no type of romantic feelings for each other at all, not before, during or after. All they had was one night of sex. Meaningless sex. A one night-er you could say. So that kid is no love child. The Punisher of course would have taken no part in raising the child at all. He would “not” stop being the Punisher just because Elektra had his child but he would also never have the kid become anything like what he is at all.
There is proof of this in the MAX line Punisher comics. In the story “Mother Russia” the Punisher is seen telling a little girl who is 5 or 6 years old to never ever play with guns. He tells her this 2 or 3 times and she repeats it. If the Punisher doesn’t want someone else’s kid to use guns then he would never want his own to kid to either. Of course that’s if he had anything to do with the kid, which he wouldn’t. I very much doubt that Elektra would have told him that he is the father of her child or that she would even ask him to raise the child with her. Elektra seems to be a very strong independent kind of women. That she doesn’t need a man in her life.
In the Punisher movie novel there was a scene between Frank and his father about Will. Frank talks to his father about not wanting his son, Will, to be a soldier and go off to war. He doesn’t want him to see and to do the kind of things that both he and his farther did and saw when they were soldiers. There’s also a scene like that in the Punisher movie mini comic book.
But if you do have the Punisher acting that way then you have made the Punisher no better than those third-world countries who train little kids no older than 3 or 4 or 5 years old how to shoot a gun, how to kill and how to blow themselves up, and the Punisher is better than that. He’s not that sick and wouldn’t go down that low.
Also the story itself is a rip-off of two other stories. One being the “Birds Of Prey” story where Batman and Catwoman got together and had a child, a girl, the other being the movie T2 where Sarah trains her son, John Conner, how to fight.
The Punisher died in Punisher: The End.
In a Post-Global-Holocaust world, the third and last world war has ended. A war that went from Iraq, North Korea, Pakistan, and then China. People have vanished from the face of the Earth due to dozens of Hydrogen bombs going off across the world. Frank Castle, The Punisher, still thirsts for revenge. When he tries to rise up from the ashes of New York City, not a rat or a bug has survived. Frank is now an old man, possibly somewhere in his mid or late 70's. After some 40 years of fighting crime, Frank was caught and put into the maximum security prison Sing-Sing. But even in Frank's old age his war on crime continued where he killed dozens of inmates. At the end of his first year, a judge says to a prisoner going to Sing-Sing: "Sending a man to Sing-Sing is like feeding a tiger meat." A year after the war, Frank and another prisoner, Paris Peters, climb out of the prison's bomb shelter. Background radiation is in the air. It would take a thousand years for it to drop down to safe levels. After leaving the bunker, Frank and Paris travel to what is left of New York City.
Castle is trying to get the people who not only did this to the world, but who have been doing evil to the world for a long time, a group known as "The Coven". A word that means an "assembly of witches." Parallels between The Coven and the conspiracy theories of the New World Order are obvious. This group is very similar to a group in the Metal Gear video game series called the The Patriots, and the group from the X-Files TV series known as the Syndicate or Consortium. There is even such a group that is spoken of in the Oliver Stone film JFK. A group of people who have all the money and power in the world. Even the President of the U.S. is not above their power and control. This group is made up of Generals (These could be the same group of Generals from the MAX Punisher story “Mother Russia”), Senators, Oilmen and Computer billionaires from around the world. They run and control everything in the world as they see fit. This could also be seen as a swipe at the neoconservatives that advocated the Iraq War.
As Frank fights his way to the Coven, killing dozen of guards, in his mind, he narrates just who these people really are.
Frank: "Once upon a time there was a bunch of evil fucks. Hardly anyone knew, because they were so good at keeping it quiet, but these particular evil fucks owned the world. And they made the world a cruel and terrible place. They ran the great industries that poisoned the air. Their businesses turned whole countries into slaves. The money they made could have fed and healed the population of the earth twice over, but all that they could think to do with it was hoard it. They got away with it by being expert salesmen. These were men who could sell anything to anyone. They made puppets out of presidents and started wars for profit. Eventually, they came to believe that there was nothing that they couldn’t do. And so one day… inevitably… they pushed the planet’s luck too far."
When Castle finds the group, they try to convince him that they can save the world. Castle does not believe them, knowing that these people would do the same thing all over again to the world. Castle kills them. When Paris asked why, Castle says
Frank: "The human race. You've seen what that leads to."
Castle then kills Paris because as it turns out, Paris was put in prison for burning down houses, including a kindergarten school with children inside. Castle leaves The Coven's bunker after killing the members of The Coven and Paris Peters. Castle was dying from radiation poisoning since he left the bomb shelter and the amount of time he has to live is very short. Later on, Frank is seen trying to make it to New York's Central Park to spend the last moments of his life at the place where his wife and children were killed by the mobsters on that fateful day in 1976. Fire consumes him. We do not see Frank die or see if he ever made it to Central Park before he dies, but his death is assured.

Very interesting. You know a thing or two about guns and tactics. And sniping. The action scene was kickass.
Totally unexpected twist.
Excellent, tight and surprising tale.
