Reviews for The Code Breaker |

![]() ![]() I love this chapter keep up the good work and hope u update soon on the code |
![]() ![]() I just finished reading this and my first thought was "That's the end?! It was so short"...Then I realized it was 27 chapters and I just read it too fast haha. Anyway, I really enjoyed this ride. I feel really badly for poor Draco here. I'm glad he has Bill to help him through things. And hopefully (presumably) he will even learn to trust the others as well. Thank you so much for writing this interesting story. It's been fun. I'm glad there seems to be more to read :) (BTW, I have to say that I prefer the nerfed Draco in the rewrites. That Draco feels more true to his in book character. This version feels like an OC with Draco's history and pratishness haha. I still really enjoy the story though!) |
![]() ![]() ![]() Although we got clues, it's so BIZARRE to see Draco using a boggart (his darker self) as a sounding board BECAUSE he's trying to think like an enemy. Can I just laugh that whenever Draco tells his boggart to get in the trunk, it's like telling a child to go to their room XD |
![]() ![]() ![]() DAW, although D/G is an unusual pairing, love how Draco's like, perfectly polite in respects to boundaries and Ginny, while she's like, don't tell him off XD it's cute. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I died. Draco being brotherly towards Laney killed me, and I wondered if he subconsciously is channelling his inner Lukas/Bill. |
![]() ![]() ![]() GOD, I have read 30 chapters of Bill and Draco friendship, and I still can't get enough of their interactions! :D That is the most HILARIOUS false set of memories I have read of the Death Eaters breaking into dance XD XD XD |
![]() ![]() ![]() Honestly, I love this pull-push relationship between Draco and Dumbledore, it's really interesting to see how they make deals as opposed to just helping from the goodness of their hearts. So excited for the Harry rescue! |
![]() ![]() ![]() It's great to have Dumbledore in the fold now about Draco's genius. Love how Dumbledore's flaws has been portrayed in this series so far, and how he acknowledges that he fails to reach out to the Slytherins. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Conversation between Lucius and Draco was intense. Although I never quite well like Draco is letting his father down in fics where he defects sides because the Malfoys sort of didn't want to be on Voldemort's side anymore by the Chamber of Secrets already. And even if they still believed in the cause, they probably have their own annoyances with Voldemort some way or around (biggest one is being used as a personal ATM, and the fact that Voldemort was quite inefficient about whatever it was he set out to achieve), so I find it hard to imagine Lucius or Draco would be entirely suffering if they worked against Lord Voldemort in the bigger picture (as long as they don't get caught and punished by Lord Voldemort). I think Lucius and Draco are the deatheater characters that are least on Voldemort's side/defecting out of all the ones from canon so a detecting story would hit harder with other characters. Igor died quickly so his presence as a character who doesn't want to be a deatheater anymore doesn't mean too much, and Severus was never an ordinary deatheater. He had too much of a special connection to Lily that his loyalties could never be one hundred percent trusted when Voldemort killed Lily. If Voldemort killed Neville instead maybe Severus would still be a deatheater... |
![]() ![]() ![]() Strong start to a sequel, can't wait to read more. Love the big reveal from Bill to Dumbledore. Only constructive criticism I have is for Bill to show slightly more emotion to Fleur being pregnant. He sort of just mentions it matter of factly but considering they're a happy couple who want to have children, and that he's grown up in a big family (so I presume he would look forward to having a family) maybe it'll be more in character for him to have one or two lines about how he can't wait to recreate his childhood, can't wait to redo all these family things etc. |
![]() ![]() I hope it wouldn't turn into romance between Draco and Ginny. Ahhhhhh |
![]() ![]() This whole series is absolutely amazing! Every time I finish it, I just re-start it again. All of your characters are so interesting a nuanced - I even like your Dumbledore, and I HATE Dumbledore usually. I’m so excited that you are rewriting The Code, and can’t wait to see what changes you make (and for you to finish The End Code). In this story, I absolutely love the scene between Draco and Voldemort where Draco refuses to join him again after he’s been captured. It’s so well done, and I love your Voldemort - he’s cruel but not insane. I also love that it gives Ron a chance to see Draco in action. I think that what could be really fun to change in the re-write would be to have this be a public scene rather than a relatively private one. I’ve been imagining it in the Great Hall instead - maybe Voldemort has a device that freezes everyone in place (Dumbledore, Harry, Bill, the DA, the professors) so they’re forced to watch the interaction, which gives Voldemort an audience. That would make it so much worse for Draco since he’s such a private person. Maybe Voldemort even has Draco have to figure out what the device is (a new time-freezing spell or invention or something) so that he has to expose his genius to the entire school. And then of course, when he refuses, he gets the knife through his arm in front of everyone. And maybe Laney is the hostage instead of Ron so Draco has to risk his life and safety for a Half-blood. Just a thought - and regardless, this whole series is excellent! Well done, and looking forward to your next The Code updates! |
![]() ![]() Omg this is one of my favorite fics ever written! I don't have the words to describe how amazing it is. Although now I'm neglecting all my school work soooooooo :P but regardless this fic is amazing in every sense of the word. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I’ve noticed that you tend to use the word insure when you should be using ensure. The easiest way to think of the difference between insure and ensure is that insure, and related words, such as insurance, can be associated with the idea of being “in case something bad happens.” Ensure can be thought of in terms of making sure that something happens, good or bad, but usually it is associated with making sure that something good happens. In short, you INsure something with INsurance INcase something bad happens. You can ensure that you use insure correctly if you remember this simple trick. |
![]() ![]() ![]() there is something innately fascinating about french draco |
